It's not always the best people who choose to be politicians. Smarmy assh*les most of 'em. I s'pose back when America was great things were different and all politicians were dedicated public servants.

Maybe someday things will be different?

Or maybe politicians will always mostly be smarmy assh*les.

Dunno, but a picture's worth a thousand words...

How bad Democrats can suck

That guy behind Dem. Richard Neal is Rep. Tom Reed. A proud member of the 'Problem Solvers' caucus. A group that solves nothing but loves them some centrist norms and values.

Reed's family owns a medical debt collection agency run thru his family's law firm in upstate NY. He's a great example of disaster capitalism for his own constituents while going full MAGA. Imagine getting threatening collection calls from your state's Senator....

Why do I have a feeling that there's just as many skeletons in the tax return woodpiles of the centrists Democrats?

Hey, maybe I should have posted this up in 'Profit' healthcare thread? It cuts so many ways.

Or you could post your thoughts about the overly politically correct "woke as f***" Metoo bunch on the far Left fringe inspiring a massive pile-on kangaroo court that ultimately ousted Al Franken, who most certainly would have tried to apply pressure in a way that Al Franken is certainly known for. Franken used to get results.

You could, but I suspect that you might be reluctant to take a look at the monster tide of poutrage that is threatening to paper over every good thing liberals are known for.

Gillibrand only? Solo effort? I don't theenk so.

She went unchallenged? Let's think about that for a moment.
How powerful is Kirsten Gillibrand?

NOT VERY.
She's a junior senator from New York who was appointed by a two year New York governor who bowed out of his own race after his fill-in for Elliot Spitzer expired.

The larger factor in the yawning chasm of silence was most definitely an overweening fealty to extreme fringe left political correctness run amuck, and Ms. Gillibrand isn't the Joan of Arc of ANYTHING, much less MeToo.

She's a Me Three, as in "Look at my attention seeking behavior!"

Nice try ignoring the over-excitable fringe.
It's almost as if you're throwing everyone in the Democratic Party under the bus all over again just so you can look iconoclastic enough to maintain your W.A.F. street cred.

Oh..?

Did the #MeToo movement come from the lunatic left?
Well I'll be Jeff. News to me...

I don't care much about Franken. My personal opinion is he should have fought harder and went without much of a fight.

But far left? Give me a hit of that!
Yu sound like Pelosi now. Yeah, I know Gillibrand and it was quite a leap she made on the dog pile crushing Franken but there were others. Which of the "overexcitable fringe" are you talking about. Who is this powerful left that smote your Al? Was it any of these:

"More than a year and a half on, the Vermont senator Patrick Leahy, former North Dakota senator Heidi Heitkamp, Illinois senator Tammy Duckworth, Maine senator Angus King, Oregon senator Jeff Merkley, former Florida senator Bill Nelson and New Mexico senator Tom Udall all told the New Yorker they have regrets about the way the allegations were handled."

Is that your idea of radical leftism Jeff? Or the women out in the streets with pussy hats? Are they the radical left? If it is we are truly effed.

Seriously, why are you so riled about a great photo of corruption? How arbitrary the lines are between both political factions? I thought it was lovely. How'd you get to Al Franken from that? Does a Daumier drawing make you see commies?

"More than a dozen Democratic senators, including the top Senate Democrat, on Wednesday called on Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) to resign in the wake of multiple sexual misconduct allegations against him.

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand was the first of Franken's fellow Senate Democrats to take that step and was quickly followed by more than two dozen others. The first batch of resignation calls came from female senators, followed by a slew of male Democrats and eventually the majority of the 48-member caucus."

Politico 12/6/17

Yeah, I thought she was the first to go after Franken. Doesn't regret it from what I can tell.

That just reinforces what I was getting at.

What were you getting at?

A public outcry over sexual harassment and abuse in the workplace?
A political response to it?
Collateral damage with Franken?
You framing as the result of a radical left?

Fine. I would argue some of that, if that interpretation is correct.

I still like the article's description of how impotent senior Democrats are as an oppositional political force. One wonders what or who they represent besides an emotional response to the Presidents offenses.

I still love the picture. Made me think of 'The Stomach'

But if you are advocating defending Liberalism that's cool. So what benefits have you seen coming from liberalism over the last 40 years that we benefit from today?
