Now you say Originally Posted By: Senator Hatrack "The Electoral College was not meant to force presidential candidates to campaign in every state." There is no contradiction in those two statements. To build a large coalition of voters in every state does not require a candidate to campaign in every state. Coalitions are built by people joining together to support a cause or a political candidate. A personal visit by a presidential candidate is helpful, but not necessary, to build a coalition.
