Actually, I didn't have the first clue who "that Obama guy" with the funny name even was and I was preparing myself mentally to vote for McCain until "that woman" showed up next to him. My wife threw one of her slippers at the screen the morning she opened her big stupid Sarah Palin yapper.

Clinton 1992 defeated former and future Governor of California Jerry Brown, former Massachusetts Senator Paul Tsongas, and other candidates (including Senator Bob Kerrey from Nebraska, Senator Tom Harkin from Iowa, and Governor Douglas Wilder of Virginia to win his party's nomination.
In 1996 he ran unopposed. So I take it you have a problem with that.
The DNC did not close or cancel the primaries in 1996, you have that wrong.

Proposed 1996 candidates trying to primary Bill Clinton were Bill
Lyndon LaRouche, Activist from Virginia and Jimmy Griffin, Former Mayor of Buffalo from New York.

They didn't cancel or close the primaries in 2008 either.
Withdrawn candidates - 2008

Obama ran unopposed in the 2012 election, but the DNC did not close or cancel the primaries in 2012 either.

DNC branches in individual states make their decisions at the state level. The GOP is proposing to do it at the national level.
