According to officials Bush to announce troop drawdown. However I find this as well as other articles fail to mention that previous judgments by the military have made it clear the surge could not last beyond the spring of 2008. In other words the articles are intimating a real decision has been made to follow Petraeus' recommendations but the reality is it had to be done anyway.

That's what I heard, too. They either have to let the troops come home, extend tours to 18 months, or start up the draft.
Let the troops come home and earn brownie points to try to get more Republicans elected.
