LawBlog has put out an excellent timeline of eventsleading-up to the Ukraine story and it's background of how it percolated-up through rightwing media to the President's desk.
The constitutions of 48 states include provisions that require the military to be at all times subordinate to the civil authority. That means that private, unregulated and unauthorized militias—operating wholly outside of the civilian governmental authority and public accountability—are prohibited by state law. There is good reason for this. As prominent historian and scholar A.E. Dick Howard wrote in 1974 in “Commentaries on the Constitution of Virginia,” the Virginia constitution’s ban on private militias “ensures the right of all citizens ... to live free from the fear of an alien soldiery commanded by men who are not responsible to law and the political process.”

Here’s the money quote from that thread. This is the truth. This is where we are. We ARE on the verge of a HOT civil war. Like in 1859. That’s where we are. And the Right has ZERO trust or respect for anything the left is doing. We see THEM as illegitimate too.@StewartRhodesOK

[quote=NW Ponderer]I forgot you were steeped in the language of Conrot.
With stupid comments like that one NW it is very difficult to take you seriously. Here is another example of how I used the phrase "pure as the driven snow."
Quote
pure as the driven snow pure and chaste. (Often used ironically. *Also: as ~.) Jill: Sue must have gone to bed with every man in town. Jane: And I always thought she was as pure as the driven snow. Robert was notoriously promiscuous, but tried to convince all his girlfriends that he was pure as the driven snow.

Hey, has anybody wondered what Dr. Gorka's been doing lately? Hey, he's hawking fish oil supplements on TV!
The "good doctor" now joins a host of other RW has beens: Dana Loesch, the former face of the NRA, appears in ads for SuperBeets, a purported energy supplement made from beetroots; Ben Shapiro, podcast host and creator of the Daily Wire, uses his platform to push BrickHouse Nutrition’s brain stimulants; and Alex Jones, America’s top conspiracy theorist and InfoWars host, famously has his own supplement company that hawks products with names like “Super Male Vitality” and “Brain Force Plus.”
PS: Gorka got a PhD in political science from Corvinus University of Budapest, and now he insists everyone refer to him as "Doctor Gorka".

Just got back from a constituent "one-on-one" session with our Congresswoman. I signed up because I had a pitch to make (biochar and the Green New Deal) and a problem with a federal agency that I need help with.
I told my colleague, after watching a line of constituents get an earnest handshake from her eminence, that I would get a hug...
I got two.
