I really do think DP and the Rant could work together somehow.
Yes, DP has a large troll element, but that is the reality in the rest of the online political world, folks. We are extremely lucky here and spoiled.

But if filtered and taken correctly, there's plenty of good here and on DP and both forums have extensive mutual interests.

And...there are a lot of cons over there who are rational and sane, and interesting as Hell, and I would like to lure plenty of them and some libs over here.

Naturally vice versa can be fun, too.
We have something to offer that DP doesn't...and vice versa.

What I like best about Reader Rant is the format. I tried DP but I don't like the format. Heck, I never, ever use CHB because of their format.

I like the Disqus format too. I guess i'm just used to that one.

DP is a good place to get in a scrap, but I wouldn't post anything substantive there.

I keep thinking back to a film called "The Hustler" with Paul Newman and Jackie Gleason. I'll try to hunt down the clip but I am thinking of the scene where "Fast Eddie" finds himself in the parlor of a rich oilman who "plays BILLIARDS instead of POOL".
Of course, he kicks Fast Eddie's ass for about twelve hours straight until Eddie finally makes the adjustment to BILLIARDS.

I like to think that the Rant is to DP what billiards is to pool.

Gentlemen, pool is fun but I definitely prefer playing billiards, and this despite the fact that, in this particular billiard room, I am probably one of the lesser contestants!

One, a guy named Cain Aerte, is probably the most politically well-informed guy I know.

Bring as many as you want, conservative, liberal, fascist, communist, whatever. Just so long as they jive well with the pool/billiards thing. We play billiards in here. Or...I like to think we do!
