I'm going to invite a couple of friends over.
One, a guy named Cain Aerte, is probably the most politically well-informed guy I know. Bring as many as you want, conservative, liberal, fascist, communist, whatever. Just so long as they jive well with the pool/billiards thing. We play billiards in here. Or...I like to think we do! Have them give me a jingle at the email ntsc 1984 AT gmail and have them give me a useable email address. I'll add them manually...right now our registration queue is under attack by spam bots. I think I know two conservatives that I can speak to. Fascists, though, are for kicking. We are also having the spam bot thing. Cain is our resident expert on killing them. Watch for his name.

I don't know if he will accept the invitation but if you follow Forbes or any number of pubs, you may have heard of energy expert Robert Rapier. We're friends on Facebook and we've been following each other for a long time. Well, when I say "following each other", I do not live under the impression that he lives for my posts. But he HAS graced a few of my comments from time to time, so I guess he occasionally reads them. This morning he winced at the realization that it is difficult to impossible to have a rational discussion about impeachment, or a lot of issues, on Facebook. So I extended him an invitation to the Billiard Room...errr, scuse me, the Rant. If we can score Robert Rapier, I guarantee it will lift this place's spirits up big time. He is well versed in a lot more than just energy issues, but I guarantee you him and Loggy might just fall in love Well...in a spiritual way anyway. Rovbert Rapier on Forbes

He's not that Rapier of the Environment we hear so much about, is he? Ummm, he's an energy industry geek but he does have an environmental side as well. He's fascinating. I think he has started to become jaded by social media, which is precisely why I am urging him to take a peek at us. I honestly see the Rant as an oasis which is far away from the landfill of troll-enhanced public commentary. I doubt he would try to rapier you, Loggy.

I don't think it is possible to have a rational discussion about anything political on Facebook. The insults fly thick and heavy. Republican trolls are poised to attack anything not worshiping Jesus and Trump.
We recently had a single Republican poster here. And the insults flew thick and heavy. Mostly from him to us. Perotista is a non-partisan conservative and we manage to get along splendidly with him.
Republicanism seems to have become a religion to them and Democrats are Satanists and socialists. Hopefully DJT will play the roll of Jim Jones and lead them all over a cliff and into a shallow puddle of Koolaid.

I think they already drank the Koolaid: The list of things they are now supporting would have Reagan spinning in his grave fast enough to use him to generate power. It's going to be years before any serious mainstream American policymaker considers them as anything but dupes. History will not be kind.
