Interesting thought: Does swearing an oath before Congress that you know is a lie not meet the legal definition of perjury? Are most of the Senate Republicans risking indictment in the future, for that act? It certainly seems Mitch is. That would be pretty funny if some of these guys, as well as Trump got indicted for perjury and jury fixing.

I don't know how it doesn't unless our future fate is already set in stone right now.
I have a lot of friends who are wringing their hands about how the impeachment effort might fail, and damage the Dems.

"What if Trump gets reelected? You know McConnell will never allow Trump to be removed from office? "Never 68 votes" etc etc.

I ask all of them the same question every single time:

"Show me how this magical Trump-McConnell Christian conservative authoritarian utopia works."

An entire generation is groaning under a trillion and a half in student debt, that same generation is looking at 88% of today's jobs paying somewhere around minimum wage.
Housing costs are through the roof.

Explain to me how this empire of illusion holds up, because if this is the wet dream of a handful of very rich Republicans, show me how they don't wind up bankrupt in the end, because IN THE END, if they don't have a nation of happy workers buying their stuff, it all collapses in ruin around their ankles.
So, show me how this Right wing authoritarian utopia works, because right now it all looks like a Jerry Springer/reality teevee script...where nothing is real.

I have never received a clear answer, or really...any kind of an answer at all, not in the three years Trump has been in office.

As another esteemed Ranter just said (logtroll?) ---if you ask them what they really want...they HAVE NO IDEA!
All they know is "Trump good, Dems veddy veddy ba-a-a-a-d".

Sorry but you can't build an empire on an illusion and expect it to hold up. And once the angry rich realize they were backing an illusion, the firing squad will appear faster than you can say "firing squad".

How does impeachment solve the economic and social issues you’ve raised?

Oh, they know what they want. They just can't come right out and say that they want all people of color gone. They want any who aren't Christians gone. Queers? Gone. Poor people? Gone. The Democratic Party? Gone.

Just. Gone.

The last 50 years?

Gone.

And if Democrats would have left Trump alone and let him work his successful businessman magic we'd be there already.

It's often hard for them to put this in words.

You gotta realize there are two classes of Regressives. There is the Con Man class, sometimes known as the ‘leadership’, and there is the Zombie class, sometimes referred to as the dumbass dipshits who vote for the Con Men. It’s the Zombies who don’t have any clue about why they hate Libtards.

And yet a good deal of those ‘Zombies’ voted for Obama I’m the upper Midwest swing states. Twice. Switched to Trump in the 2016 general.

‘Zombies’ voted for a 2016 democratic primary challenger overwhelmingly in WV. Their votes were completely discarded by the delegates. They then switched to Trump in the general.
Weird, those Zombies...

How did you get from the people who I was talking about to people who voted for Obama and then for Trump? I don’t see the connection and your message is unclear.

It’s got to be quite the dilemma for Graham, who has bragged about how seriously he takes his soldier’s oath to defend the Constitution, to have pre-oathed to violate a Senator’s Constitutionally required oath to participate as an impeachment juror practicing due diligence and all. Maybe he will refuse to take the oath, on principle, and be disqualified from sitting with the jury? Or maybe the Dems will use any violation of Senators’ oaths to cause them to be disqualified?

Of course, all of that is unplowed ground and would be impossible to sort out given the almost total lack of integrity and ethics that has got us into this mess in the first place. But such dishonesty will be fodder for the upcoming election.

“My country tis of thee, sweet land of bribery, of thee I sing.
Land where thy fathers lied, land where the children cried,
From every mountainside, let chaos reign.”
