How did all the small businesses down South feel when all those Yankees came flocking down there and running roughshod over them?

Look, if business wants to chase the race to the bottom to all four corners of the Earth, let them, but they don't deserve a break on the expense of doing so courtesy of the US taxpayer.
And that's exactly what we have been doing for the last forty years.
We have been UNDERWRITING the very things that take our jobs away, our stability, our security, our upward mobility.

If XYZ Corp is pissed off that they're paying too much in taxes and worker wages and benefits somewhere, and they want to fire all their people, pack up and move down South, then THEY have to pay for it.
And they can pay again when the people down South get sick and tired of being treated like chattel, and start demanding proper pay and benefits. And then they can pay again, and again, and again.

I've had it with this inverted socialism for rich corporations who don't want to compensate labor.
I've had it because it really isn't "inverted socialism", because when one inverts socialism to tilt in favor of John W. Ceo-guy and his corporation, it's not socialism at all.

But more importantly, it is not CAPITALISM either, it's cronyism, it's corruption, it's gangsterism.
And it's a pretty crappy deal for Joe SixPack, who also has to pay his taxes while his company gets the tax breaks.

The so called break Joe SixPack got has been proven to be a big fat sick joke, which everyone with a lick of sense warned about.
But NO-O-O-O-O, Trumpers didn't listen.

We've been doing this Ayn Rand Race to the Bottom for forty plus years now.
It's a crappy deal, it was always was a crappy deal and it is getting crappier all the time.

You can call it what you will. I grew up in an era when almost everything was made and manufactured in the states. Now almost everything comes in from overseas, we're not a manufacturing nation anymore. We're a service economy. We don't make cars anymore, we assemble them. We buy our steel from overseas. Almost everything I see in my house is made someplace else, overseas. Sure, most still have American names, but are manufactured overseas. All we do is sell and distribute.

Now I'm one who thinks there is a happy medium. A level where businesses can afford to be taxed, regulated, etc. Above that level, businesses start looking to go elsewhere as they did in the past. Anything below that level, they stay, provide jobs, taxes, etc.

Perhaps New York with their incentive for business to return has just gotten tired of losing those companies and people elsewhere. Perhaps New York would be better suited to find a way to keep what they have. Reward those who have stayed instead of rewarding newcomers. Now that is up to New York, not me.

It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Certain factions are trying to change things. Looking around the world to see what's working and what's not. What seems to be working best is the Scandinavian model. When you look at the countries with the happiest populations; Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Switzerland, among others you'll find social democracy to be the cause. A simple concept...government of, by, and for the people.

Thomas Jefferson said: "The care of human life and happiness…is the only legitimate object of good government"

Providing for the general welfare is clearly stated in the Constitution, but it falls by the wayside when defense is mentioned.
We have moved from the defense of US citizens outward to the defense of Saudi Arabian interests. Making war in other parts of the world under some guise of defending the borders and people of the United States. NATO has become little more than support for US Imperialism and the US has become the world's policeman, often putting foriegn interests and corporate profits above the general welfare and defense of Americans.

And that is capitalism in a nutshell. But capitalism has gotten a huge boost from Democratic neoliberal policies which favor business interests(free marketry) over human resources.

Neoliberalism has worked beautifully for the Bougie class. But the rest of us are getting left behind. Even the apparent success of the markets and corporations is a chimera, America's corporate debt is nearing $10Trillion. Total U.S. consumer debt is at $13.86Trillion.

So...if you haven't been keeping track, business and consumer debt in the US is higher than the National Debt which has just surpassed $22Trillion. All told the US Government, it's businesses and it's people are now some $45Trillion dollars in debt.

How long do you think we can sustain this...how long before people vote for change? How long before this house of cards falls.

Will Biden or the billionaires fix it? They only want more of the same.

Because it's working for them!

And this is the raging good economy that will get Donald Trump Re-elected?

Tonight on Rachel Maddow her interview with Lev Parnas is being aired. That, and the thousands of documents just released, completely changes the narrative. The corruption is much, much deeper than previously revealed. This is very, very bad. I think it is actually bad enough that it could change the outcome of the impeachment. This is the first time I've felt this way.

History is not going to look favorably on the Trump Era of the United States. It's just not. Hmm

The previous public evidence already pointed to a conspiracy run by Mr Trump which included high ranking members of government, as well as some lowly Giuliani henchmen.

Is anyone thinking we may see another mass pardon of participants?

Apparently the federal government is open for criminal enterprises to be run with impunity.

While I agree with you, I wonder if history is going to look back at our current political era in a bad light because of the divisiveness, the polarization and ultra high partisanship or will it be because of the impeachment of Trump?

We're as much divided ideological wise in our current era of politics as we were just prior to the civil war geographically wise. I started following politics back in 1956 watching the Democratic and Republican conventions on TV, I have never seen so much hate directed from each party at the other. I never seen each party refuse to cooperate with the other like today.

How historians, history looks back at our current era probably will be decided by which side comes out on top. Which side writes the history of our current political era.
