That's fine Hamish. It's actually meaningless to both sides since both sides have had their minds made up, pre-judged all of this way before hand. The only suspense is to find out how Collins, Murkowski, Jones and Manchin vote. Guilty or not guilty. The other 96 with perhaps one or two other exceptions votes were set in stone way before the unofficial hearings began in the house.

It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Well, yes. This is the post-rationalist era.

"We're gonna stick it to the <libs/MAGA freaks>, and if in doing this we [censored] everything up beyond functionality, then I guess someone got pretty triggered, right?

Honest to God, I have no idea how humans survived between "falling out of the trees" and "inventing fire."

If you want to see the end of the world, go over to DP and read any random conversation. That is all you need know about why we're doomed.

Why would that make any difference at all? It takes a 2/3 majority to find him guilty. Their votes will have no effect what so ever. But what WILL make a difference is if they vote to hear witnesses, like Bolton. And that will effect how their opponents run against Republicans in 2020.

Here's a fun case of "Stepping On Your Own Dick:

Trump’s Lawyers Have Muddied Their Own Arguments Against Subpoenas

Trump's lawyers main defense in the subpoena cases is that House Democrats should have impeached Trump instead of going to court to enforce the subpoenas. Now they are saying the House should have gone to court instead of impeaching Trump. Federal judges tend to not like it when people present both sides at the same time in different venues. It's a lot like lying to the judge. We may see very quick action on the subpoenas, now that Trump's lawyers are endorsing them!

They also claimed in a filed court document that the ACA mandate now has no effect (since it is $0), thus destroying the standing of their lawsuit. So the "ACA is unconstitutional" lawsuit may be dismissed.

This shows the karma involved in never paying your lawyers: All you get are crappy lawyers who are only there for their own aggrandizement. Much like defrauding so many banks, the only loans you can get are from the Russian mob.

It’s official. Some kind of mass insanity has infected the GOP.

America is in deep trouble.

I have found the impeachment trial quite illuminating, if not compelling. The public now has a clear demonstration of what a sham trial or kangaroo court looks like. It's not even a very good show. The characters are all so one-dimensional and the plot is so predictable.

Yet it is having no discernible effect on 1/2 of the nation's most respected and deliberative body.

And none on half the voters. Do liberals hate him more now that they have seen this kangaroo court? I think not.

Do Republicans now think less of Donald Trump? No. They have clearly shown that they fully support their party and its president and hope to re-elect him and them in November.

As I see it, Democrats best bet is to run a conservative against Trump, someone like Joe Biden, who can bring out the conservative democrats who feel left behind by the surge in liberalism within the party.

As far as I know there will be no testimony in the impeachment hearing. This, of course, give our dear jackass Leader what he needs to PROVE he is absolutely right and has beat the evil Democrats. This may actually be true. However, that being said, it also gives the Dems a LOT of stuff to use in the next congressional elections. So, if he does win another term the Dems should absolutely own the entire congress. (Probably not gonna happen BUT IT COULD! (wishful thinking at its best))
