“Does that mean that no president can do anything wrong in an election year?” Duckworth chuckled while asking. “As long as he says that he believes that winning the election is good for the American people?” ---Didn't Pat Cipplone say that Trump extorting Ukrainian interference in our elections is legal because "it is in the national interest that Trump remain in power"? Have we lost our collective minds? Why even bother HAVING an election at all, then? Can you imagine the GOP reaction if Eric Holder were to say that it was "in the national interest that Obama remain in power" in ANY situation whatsoever?

We don't seem to be able to count on the people we elected to do the will of the people, the majority in fact. Every poll repeats the same piece of information, a majority of Americans want to see and hear from witnesses and to hear testimony and to see evidence presented.
And, at issue, is the fact that we might not even be able to count on the sanctity of our elections to boot, not even at the most basic level, not at any level at all, in fact...if we lose this case.
So, no biggie, I guess.
A decision like this will inform and direct all such similar cases at all lower levels, over time.

I am starting to get a little nervous. Seems the talking heads of tv are starting to agree with my thought that, perhaps, the Republican's rejection of testimonies from the them close to the source might be the best thing that they could have done for the Dems in 2020.
that, of course, is predicated on the belief that the Democrats wont screw it all up, get confused, and forget what the Republicans have done thereby allowing them to skate, yet again <sigh>

That one is pure bullsh*t and has been around, as a joke for a very long time. Basically Dersh is claiming that there is really no impeachment just an exercise in futility. Given the history that is pretty hard to deny?
OH, Dersh, of course, claims to vote Democratic and is not supporting the Do Nothing, incompetent and jackass Trump. So, if you believe that one getting up to his speed on impeachment is a cakewalk!
