Orson Bean Dead Orson Bean, the witty actor and comedian, was hit and killed by a car in Los Angeles, authorities said. He was 91.
Besides being a fixture in entertainment since he was 16, he actually experienced both extremes of the political zeitgeist: He was blacklisted in the 50's because he had a communist girlfriend. Later he became related to a leading right-wing commentator, Andrew Breitbart, when his daughter, Susannah, married him.
