Oh, I've seen the oxygen tanks, no IV's yet. Just figure life expectancy was better on a golf course than on a dirt bike. BTW, there are still many that walk and carry, or walk and pull a cart. It's really good exercise. On a serious note, My sister, who has been in the music business in Nashville for years, just texted me that John Prine's family has just gone public that he is in critical condition with signs of the C virus. Think I completely wore out at least three cassette tapes of "Prime Prine" in middle and high school. His anthology is my favorite though. My thoughts go out to the poet.

That's some of the worst news I've heard in a long time.
Sheesh! At least he has clear instructions for passing...
You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the old model obsolete. R. Buckminster Fuller
Used to ride a dirt bike for fun. Love golf too. I'm older now and couldn't keep from acting a fool on the bike. Can't ride a bike forever, but I figure I can play golf as long as my health holds up. I was one tree away from screwing up my golf forever so I sold all toys and am sticking to golf- and darts. Practicing my hobbies while working ain't a bad life. Actually, golf is still doable. Ya have 4/group, you're outside and you can do the social distancing thing- provided everyone has their own cart. I would put fishing in with relatively safe activities as well. but me no fish.
No fishing for me. I've got two bikes, one a big roadie, and one a small dual sport. Greger got a chance to meet Blackie, the little one, because the only way to get to his place was down a sand road. I am going through my toys, reluctantly, as I try to start removing things from my life that I don't use, and have to admit I won't anymore - like my skis. I haven't golfed in a few years. No excuse, just haven't. I've been a serial obsessive, so I have gear for just about everything that I "got into" - scuba, softball, golf, bowling, motorcycling, skiing. One by one, they'll have to be abandoned.
Yeah, I used to be in to road bikes. Last one was an Ultra Classic. In 04, me and three friends left west Tennessee for the west coast. We got to San Francisco as fast as we could, spent a couple days seeing the sites, then picked up Hwy 1. What a ride. rode all the way up to Washington state (101 at that point I think), then headed east to Rapid City for the rally in Sturgis. finally got back. it was a 5862 mile walk about and I completely wore out a brand new rear tire- due to Hwy 1. I sat on my ass every way a man can. Sold it a year later and went back to my roots- the dirt bike- KTM-250. I used to ride with a group of guys that hair scramble in a league here. I just thought I could ride.... Anyway, it's gone now. No more toys for Livetoride, just my golf clubs.

Prine just passed. RIP John Prine. Your music will play at my memorial, that's written in stone and my girls won't let me down. God he was a great story teller.
I am hopeful that the news of his passing was false, as I've heard nothing on the news yet. I did get a text last night, but it wasn't from a family member. I have seen the statement the family put out about him being in critical care due to CV though.

I just found out that the news about Prine might be premature, but it will be a miracle of the highest order if he survives. Livetoride, I'm going to put an EDIT on the obit just as a prayer that he makes it. And if he doesn't, I'll remove the EDIT, hope that you don't mind. So glad to see you here at The Rant again, by the way.

Yes, please do. I posted earlier that I had hopes that the news was false. You are correct, given his pre-existing condition(s), it would take a miracle. Thanks for the kind words. It has been a while. Working from home does have its perks, but cabin fever is a bitch!

Texas Lt. Governor offered to sacrifice himself for the economy.
Quote
“You know, Tucker, no one reached out to me and said, ‘As a senior citizen, are you willing to take a chance on your survival in exchange for keeping the America that all America loves for your children and grandchildren?’” Patrick said. “And if that’s the exchange, I’m all in.”
My son had the perfect response: "If you're willing to die for the economy, how about something less drastic - like a universal basic income."
I was sharing with an acquaintance my favorite Ronald Reagan story:
When Reagan was Governor of California, some Black Panthers were open carrying assault rifles around Sack o' tomatoes (Sacramento). Low-and-behold, assault rifles were banned in California.
Now, suppose the African American community did America a solid and starting open carrying assault rifles on the daily. How soon would the good ol' white patriarchs in red states ban assault rifles?
