While "I hate pets" is a way of speaking because I don't HATE them in the evil sense of the word, I don't like them, find them annoying and lots of work that is not worth my time. But still, I'd never mistreat or hurt a pet. Never did, never will, and despise the people who do.

If pets sense something in the air, I don't think they've ever demonstrated anything against me, because they must feel that I'm no threat to them. Some pet owners, fortunately a minority, are a lot more of a threat to them, as in, abusive owners.

Another kind of annoying pet owner is the kind who doesn't care and doesn't curb the pet when the pet is clearly annoying someone else (like barking non stop at night, jumping on people and licking them and pawing them when they are clearly not welcome) or destroying someone else's property (like a garden) or even pooping on someone else's lawn.

Please take COVID-19 seriously; don't panic but don't deny it; practice social distancing (stay 6ft from people); wash your hands a lot, don't touch your face, don't gather with too many people, so that you help us contain it.

I had a goal once to be pet free by 2003, I never made it... Life is easier without pets. If you go away for the weekend you don't have to find someone to feed them or worry about them sh*tting on the floor. You don't have to clean puke off the couch or sh*t from between your toes.

No vet bills, no pet food to buy, no fleas. No litter boxes, no walks in the rain that you and your dog both hate.

Not having pets makes you a sensible person.

That might be a good thing and it might not. Most folks I run with can be called a lot of things. Sensible is not one that comes to mind regarding most of them.

Some of you would be uncomfortable in my home because while we did housebreak our dog, we did not "train" her to be anything other than a goofy lovable dog, in other words, herself.

So yes, she does get excited to meet new people and she does want to come over and express herself the way dogs often do. Her thirty pound frame shakes and wiggles from head to toe and she is eager to greet strangers and their pets.
She's not destructive, she's just a goofy dog who loves everyone.

Funny thing is, our kitties are the same, although not quite as silly as the dog.
But in a matter of minutes, both of them will come out and want to investigate the guest and make friends with them, too.

We had one family member who is allergic to both cats and dogs. He was pretty uncomfortable, but the rest of our guests have marveled at how friendly our pets are.
The most entertaining thing is how our veterinarian staff reacts.
They absolutely LOVE how sweet our animals are, especially the two cats.

That's exactly how you acted when I came to visit! Hmm

You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the old model obsolete.

Yeah it pretty much is, isn't it? LOL
But you did get to meet all the animals.
I can't remember if we had Betty Boop or if Zowie was still with us back then. Zowie was a very old black Cocker Spaniel.

Yeah, they are probably very sweet. If I ever visit you, please keep them at least 10 feet away from me. Hm... make it twelve, please. I was thinking of the 10ft pole but let's make it twice the COVID-19 social distancing.

eek

Mine were 30 pounds when they were three months old. Now everybody is at least 65 pounds and that's the runt. We've got a shepard/ridgeback mix you could throw a saddle on and ride around the ranch. He's a sweetheart but has a basso-profundo bark that would soil any burglar's pants.
