Oops: I saw that coming a mile away.

One Of The First California Counties To Reopen Is Closing Again

Quote
Lassen County, a county of 30,000 people in the far reaches of Northern California, was one of the first places in the state to reopen in early May. But this week, it became the first to reverse course because of a resulting coronavirus outbreak.

The county’s public health officer, Dr. Kenneth Korver, announced the decision on Tuesday after confirming the county’s first four cases of COVID-19.

And confirmed cases are just the tip of the iceberg.

Just called my local Home Depot to order some lumber. Nice guy. Told me they have been hiring because they are having all-time record sales. Restaurants and airlines may be screwed, but home improvement stores are going to do fine.

Significant development in the Minneapolis police killing: Minneapolis City Council Vice President Andrea Jenkins said Floyd and Chauvin knew each other for many years because they worked security at the same night club. Both men worked at El Nuevo Rodeo on Lake Street before their fatal encounter.

So this probably was NOT a random police killing of a Black man, but some kind of a beef between the two of them! Chauvin has already been charged with Third Degree Murder and Manslaughter. In light of this new information, I would not be surprised if the murder charge was escalated.

Either NBC or PBS news organization (NBC or PBS are the only two that I watch) interviewed the owner of the El Neuvo Rodeo and he only mentioned that Floyed worked there as a security officer and had been recently laid-off due to the pandemic.

I wonder why he didn't mention that Chauvin worked there too? Hmm

The assumption among thin blue line supporters is that he resisted arrest. He committed no crime, was acquainted with the arresting officer, and as a security guard he understood the protocols.

The cop just killed him because he could. 18 previous complaints against him. Four cops watched him do it. Perfectly in line as far as they were concerned.

Pigs. Plain and simple. There are no good cops. Sometimes bad cops do good things. Don't be fooled. They will kill you in a heartbeat for no reason at all.

Anonymous is said to have dumped 50 documents relating to Trump on Twitter last night. I found one of them.

I see that I am still registered here and can post, and that Greger, pondering, and pdx rick are still here.(Who would have predicted I'd end up in Portland myself). I am sorry in many ways that I now longer writing a regular column for CHB but Doug didn't want the kind of sometimes snarky stuff I wrote. However I am also disappointed in Daily Kos because it is so difficult to get readers what with 50 posts listed by community members. I spend up to two hours writing them. Today's was no except and from what I can tell only 12 people read it. I write original stuff and find that people who just post short excepts to news stories end up being recommended and stay online all day. I wish Kos would have two sections, one for news and like The NY Times and Wash. Post another for Opinion. I also wish Doug would make CHB like it was in the old days when there were six columnists including myself writing opinion. Oh well. My stories are always on my blog too, halbrown.org and on https://www.dailykos.com/user/HalBrown/history
