Bill Barr announced that Geoffrey Berman, a head prosecutor of the SDNY, had resigned. Berman responded that he hadn't, and now the fight is on. Berman was instrumental in getting indictments of key Trump allies, and Trump has wanted him gone for a while. Now, on a late Friday night attempted massacre, Trump and Barr attempted to force him out and replace him with someone who has never been a prosecutor but is a Trump crony. I have my own theory about this. Berman has had several sealed criminal indictments delivered to the court over the past year. I think Trump wants to quash them because he believes that he is the defendant. I think he is the defendant too. I also believe that this is why Trump is fighting so hard to win the election this year by hook or by crook. https://www.rawstory.com/2020/06/bi...-showdown-with-a-key-federal-prosecutor/

I think you're probably right and I think this is just the first ham fisted attempt to politely ask him to step down before the shooting starts.

Trump's corruption is beyond the pale. What I don't get is why is Bill Barr in cahoots? As I wrote on another thread: Bill Barr is riding shotgun on Trump's scorched-earth joyride against justice - but why?

They were also saying that Berman always carried a bag with him that contained stuff he needs for his job to be safe. I suspect, by now, he has also hidden much away. I would also expect that the Dems will ask him to testify as soon as he leaves the job and, then, leaves all the documentation with the congress.
This is not, I expect, going to end well for the Trump forces?

Jerry Nadler has already invited Berman to testify at a hearing in four days on WE 06/24/20.

Things just never slow down anymore.
Rick, I dunno what's up with Barr. But I dunno anything about him either. For me he came out of nowhere, a tabula rasa so to speak. I had no opinion of him other than that if Trump appointed him I likely wasn't gonna like him. Boy was I ever right about that.
He'll go down in the history books. A behind the scenes player who finally got to step up to the plate. A bit actor who finally got to play the lead. I bet he never missed an episode of whatever reality show Trump was in.

Here's hoping Berman has a bug-out stash. I wonder if he was just waiting for an optimal time, like Comey. This should be fun.

Barr sent Berman a letter on Saturday stating that Trump fired Berman. Trump said to the press on the way to catch his flight to Tulsa that he had nothing to do with Berman being fired, saying, “I’m not involved.” What a sh!t show.

Berman is court appointed and under 28 USC §546 his appointment lasts until there is a presidentially appointed and confirmed US Attorney. So stick that up your fat ass Barr.
