I think most people on the left like the real science-based facts, as opposed to "alternate facts" that are made up to spin events. How many genders would you say your average leftist activist believes in? All of them. I am not a leftist activist.

I would say gender is a continuum, so there is no distinct number. Humans like to categorize things and organize them into similar groupings. Doesn't approximate reality very well.
