Sorry about your back problem. Getting old sucks! Especially for people who worked with their hands, legs, and backs toting that barge and lifting that bale. I've been sitting at a desk for most of my working life. Still, I do get sore working on the ranch a bit.

With DVTs and embolism history, the anticoagulent is critical and it will prevent clotting from cytokine storm. But it won't actually prevent the storm. Clotting is just a symptom. Steroids, like dexamethasone or prednisolone, calm the storm directly. Long-haulers seem to have very inflamed immune systems and a steroid gets it back to normal.

It's very difficult to get enough Vitamin D from diet alone, but you can get it if you eat oily fish every day (like some Scandinavians) or eat certain mushrooms exposed to UV light. Of course, in Florida you can get plenty just by mid-day sun exposure for half the time a sunburn would take.

Quercetin is in any healthy diet, just not much of it. People taking it for Covid-19 are consuming about 1000 mg per day, which is about 100 times as much as a good diet.

And there you go with mega doses again. Consuming 100 times more than you need of anything is questionable in my mind. Your body isn't really equipped to absorb hundreds of times what it needs to do it's job effectively. It takes what it needs and discards the rest.

Like...if I've got a really bad headache should I take 100 Tylenol?

Maybe I should take 500 just in case that doesn't do the trick...

These things aren't drugs...they're nutrients.

What do you think about the new plan to run a test for 4000 people. after they get shot up half will be infected with the virus and not the other half. Apparently they also plan to REALLY make sure they get infected. If it doesn't work then .......

They also said that something like 20,000 have raised their hands to be tested and infected.

I've heard lots of harebrained schemes to cut short regular trials of vaccines. Worst that can happen is a few people die...

I assume you were talking about Vitamin D, since quercetin is not a nutrient. The Endocrine Society recommends a blood level of 40-50 ng/ml as optimal, and there are several journal papers that show there is a health benefit from 70 ng/ml for MS patients (like me). There is even a report of a group that is giving MS patients a whole lot more, like to get a blood level of 250 ng/ml. Their MS symptoms disappeared.

But that truly IS a mega-dose. They have to highly restrict their calcium intake to avoid calcification in their organs. 70 ng/ml is the blood level they measure in lifeguards in Hawaii. That's where the body stops absorbing sunlight to make Vitamin D, and nobody thinks you can overdose on D from sun exposure.

So no, I would never advocate anybody take an overdose of a fat soluble vitamin. People can die from that.

And Trump seems to be for any/all of them. More of his hairbrained efforts to turn everything on and have a good economy. So far I think he has, with the complicity of his Republican governors, killed somewhere around 50,000 (have no valid reason for this claim but it seems about right) and made sure that neither the economy nor Covid-19 control is anywhere near. One would think that his own people would point this out but, I guess, not so much - he only likes good news that he can wrap his head around and claim success with.

The shame, in all of this, is that the offending governors, and their citizens believe it all. This, even though the United States is now a pariah state to the rest of the world, obviously a bit insane, with an insane leader who absolutely refuses to either lead or take any responsibility for the occurring disaster. We are being expected to sacrifice our own children, apparently. The Horror is that parents are going along with this! The only real evidence of intelligence are the teachers that are fighting back as hard as they can.

Its also clear that them in charge know what they are doing is wrong. A student took a class of a crowded, un-face masked group of student changing classes. Them in charge immediately threw her, and her friend out of school because it was a secret. Only the fact that media shamed them by posting the picture got them back into school but, I think, they are doing it by internet now. So that school is being run by flat out guilty people knowing they are sacrificing their own children for the benefit of their lord and master trump.

Folks used to say; "Is this America?". Now that they know they are saying "What happened to America?" and "How did we ever get to this point" Gosh - a mystery! Well, there is the Trump thing, and the True Believers, along with the Trump Virus to explain A LOT! Then there is the possibility of a civil war in a few months just to add to our entertainment?

I wonder how many of those students grandparents are going to die now? How many will lose a parent, or even orphan themselves? How many will end up with permanent lung damage? How many aspiring to athletic scholarships will have to give up on that dream because of some disability?

Having looked at a study where they did CT scans on asymptomatic young people's lungs and found a majority of them had scarring, makes me believe the folks who say America is going to spend billions on healthcare for these "asymptomatic" victims in the future.

Unfortunately, not enough. The majority of the students will be unaffected. Just like the overall population, this is all happening to "other people". People we don't know or care about on any real level.

Half the population and more are conservative in their beliefs and actions, they are ruled by fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of black men, fear of socialism, afraid to go in the water, afraid to try something new.

This pandemic is not deadly enough to ignite their visceral fear of dying.

One thing that this has demonstrated is that we have a healthcare system which is the least of all the developed nations of the world. So-called patriots from the right will deny this with their dying breaths.

I remain a bit confused about the Democratic apparent inability to go after them about this kind of stuff. They are killing each other with a will and they simply don't seem to give a damn.

They love to say "This is America!", as if they are proud of what they have wrought and there is nobody, but fallen away Republicans, to say anything. Strange times.............

Kids who are gifted with covid-19 have, amongst other things, scarred lungs and now we are told they also eventually lose their hair. There is a whole list, actually, of what victims of covid-19 get to experience, apparently for the rest of their lives. I guess the real problem is that, apparently, they, and their parents, are in almost complete ignorance, or denial, that Covid-19 is a problem. They will, however, over time, get a little education about how good their healthcare is and what they get to live with for, perhaps, the rest of their lives.

Here is a list (they are learning about more regularly):

I think they missed hair loss.
