The very important thing about that lung scan study is they looked at a lot of "asymptomatic" young people who they knew had the virus from testing. A majority of them had some lung scarring. Which means that true asymptomatic infections are much rarer than we think. The symptoms are just not obvious, until you try your usual exercise routine. This is going to mean we have two classes of athletes in the world: Covid-damaged versus undamaged.

I count myself among the damaged, though very slightly: I did have some pneumonia and atelectasis in one lower lobe, but only for a few days. Considering how SARS-COV2 causes that, it would mean I did have some microclots in my lungs. On the other hand, I'm 68 and unlikely to go run any 5Ks.

I've got scars all over my lungs, xray people always comment on it. Pneumonia almost killed me after a binge on booze and speed in my 20s.

Every week we are treated to the fact that another athlete (baseball, football, basketball) has been tested positive for Covid-19. Given the way we are dealing with it I figure than in about a year most athletes won't be athletes anymore but just bald victims of Trump Virus instead.

The solution will be, obviously, a vaccine that is long term. As far as I can tell Trump has decided to just keep killing people until that time. I suspect some will last and some wont. The only way, I think, to tell is time and Trump is not going to allow that test to take place. There is now, however, different types of vaccines and it seems that each newer one is a different type and said to be better than the last. Its kinda interesting.

Even better is that when a new one comes out we give the owner of the billions to start producing it for the public before testing is finished. I think we have three, or four, of those so far. Once they start releasing them there are going to be choices. Given that almost all developing now being done seems to be in the speedy lane the results are going to be interesting. This is also giving ammunition to the anti-shot jerks as well.

Interesting times?

Yet in your bi-line you mention you like “good weed”. That’s all fine and dandy but how can/do your lungs handle that? I loved good weed back in the day but due to asthma I finally had to give up the beast.

I think you are jumping the gun a bit, on vaccines. Nobody is giving them out to people, other than in Phase III clinical trials. China did announce they were giving them to their military, but that is actually a clinical trial too, with a vaccinated arm and a control arm. In fact a few Phase III trial enrollments are going on now. If you look at the end date of these trials, they are a long way off in 2021 or even 2022.

It is possible that some will work so well, and pick a good place to run the trial like Brazil, that they will announce preliminary results by December. If the placebo arm gets Covid-19 at the same high rate as the general population in the area, and the vaccinated arm gets low to none, then we have a winner.

I was referring to the new ones just starting with phase 3. Each one, it seems, is doing it differently and gets more interest than the one before.

However, that being said the russians are now claiming to have a vaccine up and running but has not gone through phase 3. Apparently they are going to use their population to do that (I am not sure as the announcement was not all that specific). If they do that watch the jackass trump jump immediately on that bandwagon and stop sickening children going to school.

I use black market vape cartridges mostly. But after that bout with pneumonia I continued to smoke two packs of Camels a day for 30 more years and smoked tons of seedy dirt weed along the way too.

I keep a little flower on hand but I find it kind of chokey and burny so mostly I vape. I've made cannibutter in crock pots before to make edibles but I never really cared for them. They make my eyes red and I get sleepy but not really high.

Nowadays you can even get drops to put under your tongue! I could qualify for medical cannabis but the black market is much cheaper.

One nice thing about getting a medical recommendation, is that a lot of states will let those folks grow their own without fear of getting busted. That has always been the most dangerous aspect of using weed.

We don't have a "grow your own" option here. Originally even smoking it was banned medically. It had to be drops or vapes and led to the "No Smoke Is A Joke" campaign which eased the restrictions after a year or more tied up in the legislature and courts.

We are a very backward state in many many ways.

If my source ever dries up I'll go legit but he's got a kid to put through college so he'll need the extra income for years to come.

Getting enough signatures in the allotted time to get it on the ballot failed this time around but maybe we'll get it together next election.
