Nice to know: I didn't used to be allergic to mice, but since we moved into our current house I am very reactive. Apparently our bathroom fan pulls air up from under the house. If I'm in there with the fan on for even 30 seconds, my nose starts running like crazy.

Hantavirus

Apparently your mice don't have Hantavirus, yet...
You may need a filter for that air supply, or a better cat mouser! grin

Luckily you dont live in the Hantavirus hot zone! Oh, wait... eek

We do, and the little bastards invade my Prius all the time. Apparently, Toyota decided to "go green" and use soy-based insulation on the wire loom! I have to spray my car with peppermint oil inside and out. Seems to quell their desire to live in a nice warm Prius.

It would be very nice if somebody would make a Hanta monoclonal antibody, but there would not be enough customers.

Crap, I forgot about hantavirus when I left New Mexico a thousand years ago. I should probably be more careful when I discard the mice my cat catches in the apartment.

VA just gave Karen her Moderna booster yesterday afternoon.
By the time we made the twelve minute jaunt back up the 605 to Whittier she was feeling lightheaded and tired,
so I bundled her into bed. By 6PM she was running a wee bit of fever and had chills.
This morning she says she feels okay, just sleepy.
Oh and...the sore arm from "The Funky Cold Moderna".

Far as I remember there's some obscure code about refitting fans that source from a crawlspace because of that very thing.
God help me if I can remember the specifics though.

Just out of curiosity, how sure are you that it is actually the mice you are allergic to? Everyone in North Carolina blamed all their spring allergies on the very prominent yellowish Pine pollen deposits on their cars. It has been studied and the pine pollen is too large, and it just happens to deposit when many other very allergic spring pollens were also released.
I was out biking around Durham long ago, and I noticed some beautiful yellow flowers. I stopped and gathered some for my wife and brought them home as a surprise. My surprise was that they were goldenrod, but I got credit for the thought!

It's definitely the mice: When I run the fan with the bathroom door closed, I can actually smell them. I an mildly allergic to some pollens. I stuck my nose in a cup of gold flower and took a whiff in high school, and got a snoot full of pollen. That started my plant allergies. Very allergic to sea scallops, or at least something they eat. I love them, but I have a hard time breathing! Not allergic to any other sea food, that I know of.

Worst of all, I seem to be allergic to my own myelin...

Boosters scheduled for the 16th at our local Riteaid.

PAXLOVID is a new protease inhibitor from Pfizer that prevents SARS-COV2 replication with amazing results: The success rate depends on how early Covid infection treatment starts, but even five days after symptoms start it is over 90%! At three days after first symptoms it's over 98%. I thinks it's probably near 100% effective if given before any symptoms appear.

The mechanism is well understood: The virus make long proteins that have to be cut up into the functional proteins it needs. Protease enzymes do this precise cutting. This drug inhibits them. It does not interfere with DNA, Messenger RNA, or even vaccine mRNA. The only thing that uses these enzymes are RNA viruses, like corona viruses. But there is a reasonable chance the drug may work against other RNA viruses, like rabies, HIV, dengue, Ebola, zika, etc.

Protease inhibitors have been used for years for HIV-infected patients to keep them healthy.
