Martin

Martin Luther King Jr. abhorred the death penalty. Executing Black men on his birthday would dishonor him.

I would be lax in my scrutiny of rumps last days if I failed to note that one of rump's final wishes did not happen. He dearly wanted his base to remember his administration executed more federal prisoners than any prez in many years, and as a misogynist who executed the only women in many year. That will teach those uppity women!

He had hoped to give a special King birthday present to America on King's birthday by executing a black man, but it just didn't happen. The actual birthday was Friday, and a late appeal delayed the execution till Saturday. If only Barr had stayed around just a little longer this tragedy might have been averted.

Purrhaps we should take this topic elsewhere for discussion, but I felt that mentioning here was appropriate for MLK Day.

It can never be said enough: with Trump, there is no bottom.

There is substantial evidence of a fatass, however.

bottomless

My son did give me a bumper sticker that may help, butt maybe not.

I am considering the deep philosophical incongruity of a bottomless fat ass, and will report when it is determined if a solution exists.

Mark Twain only compounds the problem:

There is no character, howsoever good and fine, but it can be destroyed by ridicule, howsoever poor and witless. Observe the ass, for instance: his character is about perfect, he is the choicest spirit among all the humbler animals, yet see what ridicule has brought him to. Instead of feeling complimented when we are called an ass, we are left in doubt.

Many people are complaining that the "$2,000" next check will be $1,400. During the recent Georgia run-off race, it was always stated as "$2,000."

No one from the Democratic side ever said increasing the $600 by $1400 for $2000. Media and politicians always said "$2000."

Ol' Joe needs to step-up to the plate and make the checks $2,000 because people were expecting a total of $2,600 and not let this be his first disappointment - it's just not worth it.

Sending money to every American whether they need it or not is just plain stupid. Send more to those who have lost their income. They are the ones who need it and will spend it. The rest will put it in the bank with the rest of the money they’ve been saving by staying home and eating in.

Down here at the poverty level, any money at any time is a good thing.

But I don't "need" it. My income has been uninterrupted. I even got a $13 a month raise this year....Me and Elon Musk, we killin' it.

Economists disagree with you friend, Irk. These same economists point to the Spring of 2020 when the GPD didn't take a hit as it should have because folks used that money in the economy. Frankly, there should the been another infusion last Summer 2020.

Quote
Dr. Baker and fellow researchers looked at how recipients spent their stimulus checks. The surprising find was the spending behavior was very different depending on how much cash people had in the bank. The people who had $3,000 or more in their checking accounts had no response to the appearance of their stimulus check. So the stimulus checks to those with cash in the bank did nothing to stimulate the economy. On the other hand, those who maintained accounts with $500 or less spent almost half of the deposits—44.5 cents per every dollar—within 10 days. The stimulus checks to those with little cash in the bank, resulted in 44.5% of the check amount going back into the economy in 10 days, which further stimulated the economy.

The other finding of the research was that people used the stimulus checks to pay for food, household items, bills, and rent. Unlike stimulus funds in the past, this money wasn’t used for purchase of durable goods such as electronics, furniture, or cars. So the stimulus checks didn’t stimulate the hard-hit areas of the economy like manufacturing or retail.
