BamaMama, you gotta get North (all the way) more in the "fall"! National TV my only be able to show 20,000 seats at a time at U-M, but lot more there than meets the Southern eye. ;\) How many Southerns are fan enough to go out week after week in Green Bay winter weather??? Hell, we can't even get tem wussy Southern teams to agree to a bowl game up yonder. That's the one I really wish for! All the Northern teams essentially play away games at the Southern team's home, comfy & sunny arena. How 'bout a national championship North of the 45 degree line? It'll change the Southern Ma'ams wardrobes right quick! Got a parka??? Bob, I attended the first ever Music City Bowl in Nashville. That was probably the worst weather ever -- oh I do recall hearing Bart Star talking about playing in Green Bay -- You know I believe in global warming because I remember nice crisp winter football games. Now most of the games are played in tropic-like temperatures. I'm endure almost anything (I sat through the entire Tundra Bowl even though Va Tech whopped my team) to watch college football. I'd love for the SEC to start some exchanges with Penn State and Ohio State and Michigan and Colorado and Washington and ........ Kathy

If we have nothing to fear but fear itself, sometimes I think fear is winning. Years ago when I worked for in the defense industry, I heard a story (and this was pre 9-11) about a brief case being left unattended in a Pentagon reception area. It was taken to a place and blown apart. Unfortunately, the contents inside the briefcase were, shall we say, "not dangerous from a physical safety standpoint but perhaps not what the owner of the briefcase would have wanted to have been made public." Kathy Heck, Kathy, Nashville ain't even close to North. It's barely outta the tropics! It's where we go to open our golf pre-season in what we call spring. Let's try ice, blinding snow, sub zero, hot chocolate..all them things and an icy pigskin. Can the South take that for half their games...for their championships?

Lovely opener, Julia. We have wonderful trees down here in Florida, also. A few live oaks that may have shaded some of those early explorers. But sadly, concrete and asphalt are crowding them out. EmmaG

This afternoon my Internet provider called and thanked me for my September payment. ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/Smilies/headscratch.gif) The guy on the other end offers for me to pay in advance the OCT, NOV, DEC '07 payments. I politely decline... ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/Smilies/huh.gif) The guy on the phone then offers that I can pay the October payment now... ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/Smilies/icon_confused.gif) Again, I decline and thank him for his call. ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/Smilies/lightbulb.gif) Then I remembered reading in the newspaper recently that Earthlink is in financial trouble. I'm not going to bail 'em out. ![[Linked Image from i48.photobucket.com]](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f228/ca_rickf/Smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)

Rick, that call was my fault. I declined to send in the card they sent me, for renewing email service for my parents. Had I re-signed-up, I'm sure that would have bailed them out... Thanks, all, for the opener comments. It was my very first....

Yes, great opener, Julia - I've been meaning to tell you all day. The song of the meadowlark stays with you awhile, if you are lucky enough to find one. It does indeed and it's very distinctive. They sit on the tops of fence posts at the back of my yard here and sing to me while I work in my garden.
