Pirsig was probably most of the reason I bought a motorcycle lo these many years ago. I didn’t keep it long; I lived in a mountainous tourist area, and blind curves, Winnebagoes, and inexperienced riders don’t go well.
Not exact, but close: “What is Quality, Phaedrus, and what is not Quality? Need we ask someone to tell us these things?†"Big Red", my BMW1150, is currently in the shop on a recall. I discovered the recall, fortunately only a few miles from the house, when the right side of the bike started spewing gasoline.... Immediately pulled into an I-Hop parking lot, and started calling for a tow and shop to take it to. Ironically, almost every shop is very behind because there have been so many mechanics and techs that are out with COVID symptoms... I still have my "Little Blackie" in operating order. It had been 3 years (with one short exception) since either motorcycle had left the garage. A friend offered to help me replace batteries and get them in working order. We got the batteries on Tuesday, I spent Wednesday replacing fluids, and doing my T-CLOCs, so Thursday was ride day. I forgot how much I love riding until I got a block from the house.
