Peyote is pretty horrible. Very hard on your stomach. Puking is part of the experience. Extraction of the mescaline is very easy, and mescaline is lovely. It's 3,4,5-Trimethoxyphenethylamine, and 3,4.5-Trimethoxyamphetamine is lovely, too. Almost identical. There are lots of complex amphetamines that are fun with slight differences:
2,5-Dimethoxy-4-methylamphetamine is STP
3,4-Methylenedioxyamphetamine is MDA
3,4-Methyl​enedioxy​methamphetamine is MDMA AKA ecstasy or molly
All of these lack the puking part of the peyote experience, with similar psychedelic effects. Effective doses vary a lot.
The big difference is that mushrooms are legal in Washington state. The rest of these are still illegal everywhere in the US.
