Although these days, perhaps, the lyrics would be better served to be “just bring us back the rainy weather.” And then we perhaps could continue to hang together as birds of a feather.

But can you imagine what it would have been like to be the whistler’s mother when he was growing up?

I rode that Amtrack train that just wrecked in Montana a few times in the Wayback, going to a Christmas gathering of my 2nd ex-wife's family in Devil's Lake, North Dakota from North Idaho. One time we had an unscheduled stop in Havre (near where the wreck happened). It was dark, 30 below, and the wind was blowing. They opened the doors and windows of the car I was into let the smoke out - smoke, you say? yeah, the outlet to the shiiter froze and they were thawing it out with oxyacetylene torches and something caught fire - I wonder what? The shiiter outlet, you ask? Yeah, they just dump the holding tanks onto the rail bed as the train is Empire Building along the Highline at 70 mph.

Trains have a reputation for being romantic! So romantic that it reminded me of a song I'm going to post over in the Song Game topic...

Now-a-days, Idaho's hospitals are full, and they're running out of mobile morgues for all of the dying unvaxxed conservatives.

Oh well...we all make choices in life. These people are simply exhibiting their freeDUMB.

We took the Empire Builder in 2016 (among other trains across country and back). Stopped to see Julia in Omaha and then Ken in Eugene. Got off at White Fish, Mt., rented a car and spent 10 days in Missoula visiting our son-in-law. Drove back up to White Fish, got back on the Empire Builder.
That's a gorgeous ride through Montana, Glacia Park.
Havre is a regular stop now. That's where the ladies of the town make and sell box lunches to train riders who want one. Good stuff!

We were supposed to do another similar trip but the pandemic interrupted us.
