We took the Empire Builder in 2016 (among other trains across country and back). Stopped to see Julia in Omaha and then Ken in Eugene. Got off at White Fish, Mt., rented a car and spent 10 days in Missoula visiting our son-in-law. Drove back up to White Fish, got back on the Empire Builder.
That's a gorgeous ride through Montana, Glacia Park.
Havre is a regular stop now. That's where the ladies of the town make and sell box lunches to train riders who want one. Good stuff!

We were supposed to do another similar trip but the pandemic interrupted us.
