For me, MDMA allowed me to be my open and receptive to people. I was shy and withdrawn prior, and once thought when I was on MDMA, if I can be this outgoing now, I can be that way when I am not on MDMA.

You don't want the strychnine, or let's just say that's the unwanted hitchiker, at least as far as my understanding of it goes.
But that's one of the limitations of that stuff, which is why I didn't go as deep as I did with shrooms and the acid.

Anyway, one day I guess I subconsciously decided I'd tripped enough and in the last thirty years I've only had shrooms one more time because Karen was curious. Of course she had to stop taking her 10mg* morning Paxil for three days because it cancels out the effect of the shrooms.

She had a wonderful experience...."wunnerful wunnerful, yes frienss" (Lawrence Welk) but she very much did NOT enjoy the "come-down" the next day. So I think for her, the shrooming experience was a one-off.
But she did enjoy it and if the come-down wasn't so irritating for her, she'd probably try them again.

*Apparently most doctors think 10mg of Paxil is a tiny dose.
But....seeing as how Karen is all of 110 pounds, for HER, it is sufficient because the VERY first time, she took more and more and more shrooms and felt NOTHING. Zip, zero, zilch, nada...and it was because of the Paxil canceling it out.

Pyschedelic awakening led ex-Navy SEAL on journey to save the Monarch butterfly

Quote
When Mark Matzeldelaflor left the military more than a decade ago, he spent years searching for something that filled him with the same sense of purpose as being a Navy SEAL.

After serving a couple tours in Iraq, including as an elite sniper, he returned home and took up odd jobs — "just wandering and doing random stuff to make some money to pay the rent," he said. Then, on a whim, he said that he tried "magic mushrooms" for the first time with a friend and that the psychedelic awakened in him a new resolve.

Just found this thread. There you go again! In my younger years I took LSD (only about eight times) and except for one misadventure it was always in some very rural hiking area. The one time I took it in a social setting I regretted that tremendously. The rural hiking trips were awesome.

I just got me some cubenzies (spelling unknown) which are some type of psilocybin mushroom. I have not taken them yet but I plan to. I’m hoping it’ll snap me out of the funk I’ve been in for a while now.

Psilocybe Cubensis grows all over the South on cow pies after some rain mellows them out. But beware picking just any old mushroom growing on a cow pie! You need an experienced mushroomer with you so you don't die if you go hunting. Totally impossible to eradicate, ever.

Fantastic Fungi on Netflix is very nice: I went to High School with the producer/cinematographer. The first half is naturalist footage. The second is very much psychedelic!

>8 times: Yeah, that's about right. That's when God tells you you don't need to drop acid any more.

You had mentioned earlier about trails. In 1968 I was hiking in Pololu Valley and the associated ditch trail. We (group of three) went up to about the second valley top and then my small group split up. As I was sitting there gazing about I spotted a jetliner leaving from Hilo to Honolulu. And then I accidentally coughed and that plane exploded like a kaleidoscope. I thought that was cool so I forced myself to cough again. Same thing happened. That was phuking funny and also awesome.

So then after that I was standing there alone turning my head about 160 (sorry this thing only produces degree signatures if assigned with voice to text. After about 140° I locked eyes with a feral bull of which many feral cattle are in the area. A gift from the British in the early 1800s but that is perhaps a topic for another thread. He crouched down and I was freaked. But for some reason I guess he didn’t want to match up with me and he took off quickly. To this day I still get a chuckle out of that even if it did, at the time, totally freak me out.
