The first time I dropped acid, I discovered the real "happy trails". For those of you who have not imbibed, "trails" is a very common visual hallucination effect of psychedelics. You can move your hand and see many images of the hand following the primary image, and then converging when the movement stops. When this happens, you know you bought the real thing.

This is so disgusting....I can't believe it's real.

I was coming home in the ferry when I see this small orange boat...with a fcking machine gun on it!!!

WTF????????????

People in the vanpool said it was the Coast Guard and they've been escorting ferries since 9/11. I've never seen that in the entire month I've been commuting via ferry.

Since when are Coast Guard vessels orange? Coast Guard vessels are white and have a red flog on the side.

An announcement on the ferry's PA said this was routine and not to be alarmed. I'm not alarmed, I'm pissed!! mad Is this fcking Afghanistan here? Hmm

No, this is the nation that invaded Afghanistan and terrorized the people there for 20 years.

This is the nation that invaded Iraq and terrorized the people there for 14 years.

This is the nation that bombed,,,

And yet you are surprised and offended that these same forces are protecting you against retaliation? This is the most dangerous, most militarized nation in the history of the world.
And yet her people are kept blissfully unaware of the ravages of war we spread around the rest of the world on a daily basis.

Oh, and Coast Guard helicopters are also orange...

I was not aware of those boats in Elliot bay either (we left Seattle in 1986) but I did find a 2005 link from the Seattle Times that might help.

I don't remember London ferries being attacked. The Washington State Ferry system is the largest ferry system in the country. After 9/11, law enforcement became too militarized. Hmm

Omarosa won her arbitration against Trump. Turns out, any NDA signed in NY State are illegal and unenforceable. I can't wait for the juicy stories to come out about the twice-impeached, failed POTUS now. smile

I have not been to Seattle for several years now. It was my understanding that the Alaskan Way viaduct was going to be demolished and then the area changed into an oceanfront park. Has that happened?

As I might’ve mentioned before we lived for six years in Green Lake just off the north-east corner of the main entrance. I used to commute daily to just south of SeaTac airport. I would take the I-5 heading south but I would always return on 99 via the elevated aqueduct, the upper level being northbound. Depending on the time of year it was just awesome watching that sunset over the Puget Sound with the Olympic Range in the background.

Even though I am an OSU beaver.

My uncle (Sam) brought me to Washington in 1986. I've never wanted to permanently leave. When I first joined the Army I had the notion of moving every three years, living in exotic places and really getting to know the country and the world. Then I had kids and never wanted to move again. Nevertheless, I have had the opportunity to spend time in Virginia, California, Texas, DC, Florida, Wisconsin, Panama, Korea and Germany - all at the invitation of the government. It solidified my desire to stay, although I did entertain a job in Germany. I loved it there, too, and thought it would be great for the kids. Now I do my travels on my own dime. There are plenty of places I still want to visit, for extended time to get to know the place, but age and commitments make that unlikely. I do have a friend with an apartment in Italy, though, and a nephew who is moving to Spain...

We lost our dog, Augie, in December, at 16. He adopted us when he was 6 or 7. He loved our travels in "Harvey", our RV. Our younger son has an albino pit bull, Moxxie, who is adorable. So, we haven't had another dog adopt us yet. And our last cat left us nearly 6 years ago (although he now lives with a friend, so I do see him occasionally). When son #2 gets his own place, I expect another animal will find us. Losing companions is painful, though, and I do miss them terribly.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich
