Good one old bump on a log. I always loved Bellafonte’s voice.

Speaking of clichés how about a John Prine song made up entirely of clichés:

From the post of Dylan telling about Roy Orbison: “He sings like a professional criminal.”

That’s what I love about Dylan. I’m not sure exactly what he means but he said it so perfectly it just doesn’t matter.

They shifted from major to minor keys with no logic:

Sorry, doing all of this from a smart phone and I don’t know how to copy and paste entire lines with this phone. This was in regards to Jeff’s earlier post about Roy Orbison:

So did the Beatles. Plus they also ran unlikely major chords together which had never been done before… at least and Pop music. And somehow made it work. That was part of the reasons the construction of Beatles songs was so amazing.

Loved Roy Orbison too. Especially Pretty Woman. That song drove me nuts when I was a kid.

Rrrrow!

I went through five videos before finding an early performance that was in the original Irving Burgie style. He performed it, too, but Belafonte is a better singer.

JP is one of the best - I can even sing along without too much trouble!
