You're probably right. Even McCarthy said there were between 10-15 Republicans that would vote for it. Now the squad doesn't have to worry about getting reelected, their districts are safe. They win by 80-20 or 70-30 if the Republicans actually field a candidate.
So as a symbol, that symbol means nothing if that was what they intended. Unless they are thinking of higher offices and looking at state or national office.
