Ricks posted a video at the start of this thread. I think you should watch it.

Herr Bonhoeffer’s Theory of Stupidity is founded on an inability to recognize and respect new aunts…

So the gist of this thread is that all Republicans are unfathomably evil.

And that Democrats are all goodness and light and you can't give a single example of wrongdoing by Democrats because none exist.

Any statement to the contrary makes you a right-winger and not welcome here!

Bonhoeffer

For those who would rather read than watch the video. Many sentences and concepts are complex and may require re-reading and considering.

Bonhoeffer on Stupidity (entire quote)
Written by Averett Jones on December 31, 2019 at 11:04 am

(This week’s editorial is from Dietrich Bonhoeffer, one of my personal heroes. Bonhoeffer was hanged by Adolf Hitler in 1945.)

Taken from a circular letter, addressing many topics, written to three friends and co-workers in the conspiracy against Hitler, on the tenth anniversary of Hitler’s accession to the chancellorship of Germany…

‘Stupidity is a more dangerous enemy of the good than malice. One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be, prevented by use of force. Evil always carries within itself the germ of its own subversion in that it leaves behind in human beings at least a sense of unease. Against stupidity we are defenseless. Neither protests nor the use of force accomplish anything here; reasons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one’s prejudgment simply need not be believed- in such moments the stupid person even becomes critical – and when facts are irrefutable they are just pushed aside as inconsequential, as incidental. In all this the stupid person, in contrast to the malicious one, is utterly self-satisfied and, being easily irritated, becomes dangerous by going on the attack. For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.

The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity is a short essay written by the Italian economist Carlo Cipolla. The first edition was written in English and released in 1976. Originally, it was intentionally distributed only among his friends on a confidential basis. The reason is simple. That book was intended as a sort of joke, where he faced a few serious topics in a lighthearted and not-to-be-taken-too-seriously way.

The most famous excerpt is the one on human stupidity. When addressing such a sensible theme, he came up with an extravagant and interesting theory, which earned him incredible success. Not only was the essay officially published, but it was also translated into many languages and distributed worldwide. Now, it represents a milestone on the controversial topic of human stupidity.

Let’s dive into the 5 basic laws of human stupidity.
First Basic Law
Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation.

I was unsure what thread was most appropriate for this topic, so I figured an American Humor new thread was justified! grin

I dunno about all that!

The Mueller investigation actually uncovered a lot of criminal activity, including obstruction of justice, as well as evidence of troubling if not criminal behavior. Why did every, single, Republican lie about meeting with Russians? It you met with them, you met with them. Why lie about it?

Donald Trump was revealed by special counsel Robert Mueller to have actively sought the Russian government’s assistance during the 2016 election. Despite Trump, his sycophants, and Bill Barr's claims to the contrary, it is clear that the Trump campaign was eager to work with the Russian government in 2016. Mueller's report showed the degree and depth of the Russian active measures, propaganda, and intelligence warfare efforts which allowed Trump’s 2016 victory over Hillary Clinton.

Mueller's conclusion stated that Donald J. Trump and 18 of his associates had over140 contacts with Russian nationals and WikiLeaks, or their intermediaries, during the 2016 campaign and presidential transition:

I find it odd that from 1946 to 2014, Donald Trump had nothing to say about Russia or Putin. THEN in 2015, when Trump entered the presidential race, it was Russia every day, all day from Trump.

This photo was taken when Trump and Putin emerged from their 1 hour private meeting WITHOUT an American interpreter or photographer present, in Helsinki as the two walked to the podium. Why is Putin all chipper and smiles and Trump looks like he was just raked over the coals? Pictures don't lie.

Actually the Mueller investigation turned up no criminal activity except the obstruction of justice charge, which was basically an early Trump gaffe when he tried to shut the investigation down....

It created a lot of hope that Trump could be unseated and locked up though! Democrats were ecstatic for months drooling over Trump's upcoming arrest and perp-walk of shame!

He's still a free man...as is Hillary...we have not yet managed to begin locking up all our political enemies.

It's not too late, everybody knows just how bad conservatives are and that they shouldn't really be allowed to walk around free.

Welp, when you walk around thinking that child abuse is happening in basements of pizza parlors (with no basement) and you bring an AR-47 to said pizza parlor to free the abused children in the basement (where there isn't one)...should you be walking around free instead of being in some loony bin?

Hmm
