From an outsider’s point of view. Both major parties owe their hearts and souls to corporations, wall street firms, lobbyists, special interests, super, mega individual money donors etc. This is where they now get their hundreds of millions and billions to run their campaigns and organizations. I used to say, millions and tens of millions, then went to tens of millions and hundred of millions. But with 14 billion being spent on 2020 election, it now is in the billions.

The two major parties do have a monopoly on our election system, and they intend to keep it that way. Republicans and Democrats write our election laws and they do so as a mutual protection act. If there’s one thing both major parties agree on, it’s no viable third party will ever rise. The rhetoric of both parties is completely different, but they basically govern the same. Although they do play around the edges.

Now that’s over, let me add that today, most folks aren’t worried one bit about any legislation. They’re worried about rising prices, gas, food, housing, etc. along with the appearance of empty shelves. What may or may not help them in the future is totally irrelevant today. Being a numbers guy, I must throw this in.

It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.
