On the subject of problems and solutions, does Bonhoeffer present some insight into a problem? If he does, are there fresh insights into how to deal with the problem?

In my experience, which includes lots of interactive experiments, there is a very real force field around “stupid” people that I have not been able to pierce with any type of rational, honest, respectful, polite conversation. I have not seen any cracks in the armor of “stupidity”. At the same time I have paid attention to the possibility that I was engaged in the same behavior, and at times I was.

To date, this problem appears to have no possible proactive solutions, and I expect it will run its destructive course as has happened so many times in history.

You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the old model obsolete.
