If that were the case, we'd all be in jail.

the Democrats are picking up the white college educated.

Turns out Millenials are the best educated generation in history so more younger voters are already leaning towards the blue team. Given what we know about ZGen they will likely be following suit. This too is the pool from which future candidates will be drawn. But even younger conservatives are trending slightly more liberal which points to a time when the two factions might begin working together a bit more.
The elitist image is one reason Hillary Clinton lost. At least among independents who went for Trump although they didn’t like him either. Hillary came across as not only elitist, but aloof and a know it all. She went against an obnoxious, uncouth, rude fool. 54% of all independents disliked both and didn’t want neither one to become president.

https://news.gallup.com/opinion/pol...ans-dislike-presidential-candidates.aspx

Biden didn’t come across as elitist, not last November anyway. Certainly not a know it all. I’d say more as an average Joe and that’s isn’t a pun. Hence Biden upped the union household vote from 51% to 56%. The working class or at least those who belong to a union. He also won independents by 13 points whereas Hillary lost them by 4. But yes, the Democrats in congress are coming over as elitist and the type of I know what best for you better than you do. Perhaps having the college educated on your side is one of the causes. They can’t relate to those who haven’t gone to college.

I suppose the good news is Biden’s overall approval rating is no longer falling, it has stabilized over the last three weeks and has remained basically the same. He hasn’t climbed any, but neither has he fallen anymore.

It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Biden is nothing BUT an elitist. And that hard-working dad? A millionaire fallen on hard times after the Big War and forced to sell used cars...

He raised Joe to be an elitist. Once Joe got elected Senator he got a cushy job with a Union which was later investigated and shut down...This Biden family is full of crooks and cons.

But it's all a matter of perception right? More than the reality. Trump is also viewed in a much kinder light than he should be by those who should know better.

A riddle for the wise.

When it comes to politics and elections, perceptions are everything. Especially with this large group of swing voters who usually don’t pay much attention to politics. Joe came across, perceived as a dignified adult which whopped Trump among independents. As a numbers man, I usually don’t get into personal history. Outside of knowing Biden was a senator from Delaware, then VP and now president, that’s about it. So, with personal history, I’m no better informed than any other swing voter.

I never meet Biden or any other president for that matter, but I liked what I saw and voted for him. Is he an elitist? He hasn’t shown that like Hillary did. Now there are quite a lot of folks whose private and public persona are quite different if not opposite. Biden could fall into that category, I don’t know. But he is likable as a person, at least what we see of him on TV unlike either Trump or Hillary Clinton. Bill Clinton, Obama and Bush II were all likable, all won reelection. Trump wasn’t and lost. Don’t underestimate the likability as a person when it comes to swing voters deciding who to vote for. Charisma also plays a big role.

Independents usually will vote for the candidate they like best as a person as in 2020, Biden over Trump. Or in the case of 2016, against the candidate they dislike the most when both are disliked as a person, Trump over Clinton. It all boils down to perceptions of the candidates.

I suspect that the Republicans, in their multiple efforts to offend just about everybody, has begun to change how people vote. Its very strange. When Trump first came on the scene he spent a lot of his time offending just about anybody there was. This was construed, by many, as telling the truth (they still believe). Others were so offended by both sides they stopped voting. Many others changed their voting habits.

The entire thing continues to develop and that development has changed things and nobody really knows what the hell is going on. I do know, however, that things are changing all the time at a very high clip.

Well, he did touch that Stormy working girl, but though seeking her praise...the description of his package should be described, more appropriately, on the fungus amongus thread.

Most legislation funnels money to the rich who then "create jobs" to help the working-class folks
So you have a way of providing money for projects by contacting workers directly. How exactly would that work? Would they elect project managers? Now that sounds like colonial America when the rank and file militia elected their officers. Not sure how that works.

sp how would you get a bill passed? would you beat 'em in the head and force people to vote for your pet project? The Republican agenda is to metaphorically dissolve the federal government, and they have not done it yet .... but I give them some time.

Trump isn't coming back
Have you not ever met a narcissist? He has a personality disorder which compels him to bath in the warmth of people's praise. And remember ... he controls the Republican base and he alone. Not a single Republican has any influence over the base, except Trump. They all fumble all over each other to perform the most degrading acts of subservience to Trump in the hope of winning over the base. Trump isn't just coming back .... he is already here

Well my understanding is most thing’s approximating a revolution requires a certain percentage of class traitors. If they’re on your side then by any means necessary. FDR ran as an austerian but quickly abandoned it in office. I read where he was doing Keynes while knowing nothing about his theories. Had a natural progressive populist instinct and the political skill to implement legislation. Biden’s no FDR no matter how hard they tried to gaslight the country in believing he was the second coming. Biden may be tricky lace curtain Irish but blue blood NY Dutchman he ain’t.

Biden did his familiar ‘lunch box Joe’ Schtick on the campaign trail though. All that ‘friend to the little guy’ stuff IIR, yet always governed or voted for wall st. Has that changed?

Personally, I think he’s losing the capacity to govern so whatever his real goals are is a mute point. The pattern is a familiar one by now though. Leverage people’s desires on the campaign to get elected then lower their expectations once in office, despite their proposals having broad popular support during the campaign.
No, you cross the donor class in Dem Corp, your redistricted or primaried out to maintain that Wall St. orientation of the party. Biden knows this well and has voted accordingly his whole career.

Been nice if he surprised people like myself more. That full withdrawal from Afghanistan was a welcome one. Too bad he’s gone back on his campaign promises. Course if all you wanted was bad man gone then you probably have little to complain about.
