I think Patrick Lawrence is right about the silver lining. Having corporate media soil itself will go some ways to promoting independent journalism. An ironic outcome if it plays out that way. Bill Clinton thought it would be swell to have news media consolidate and passed another neoliberal ‘modernization’ act to hand the industry to slippery people like Gates, Murdoch and Bezos eventually. His wife may have reversed that trend of corporate consolidation with her
Fakakta conspiracies pumped out by her aligned media.

The upshot seems to be liberals getting more authoritarian as Lawrence points out and we’ve seen. Rick still hasn’t said if he supports the 1st amendment but is down with torturing a journalist doing his job. Same journalist liberals hailed as a hero exposing war crimes in Iraq. Russiagate has been a learner, fer sure.

Fortunately, I'm a moderate socialist. Somewhat conservative as socialists go. Perhaps my ultimate goals could be considered extreme since they vary from whatever goals the Dems and Reeps may have.

What are the goals of the two major parties anyway? To beat each other in the next election seems to be the only goal they have. What is the plan for the next 50-100 years?

The elitist with the answers in your video points directly to Facebook and Twitter. The two places where people gather the most to freely speak among themselves. It is at this level, the egghead believes, that free speech needs to be curtailed.

No mention of any propaganda arms radicalizing the people in both directions. Maybe because this little video is itself propaganda.

He's blaming the goddam victims of corporate propaganda for talking about the extreme views pumped into their heads by the corporate MEDIA!

He's saying the answer to extremism is to silence THE PEOPLE at the corporate level so that government isn't guilty of shutting down free speech.

Facebook does a pretty good job censoring content. Almost Chinese in their efforts. But if they stamp out the anti-government talk at FB and Twitter, folks will find other ways. forums, emails lists and newsletters. Podcasts, private streaming...

Pandora's box has been opened.

Worth mentioning, though, how much profound thinking comes back from the wilderness. State wilderness or self imposed. MLK, Debs, Mumia Abu-Jamal, Emma Goldman, Christ, Hitler..you name em.
