It's just not time yet for that. They don't want to prematurely release everything. If they investigate fully, they can release bombshells every week before the next election, get congress critters indicted, maybe even get Trump indicted. If Trump extracts enough cash from his supporters and it all goes for criminal fines and civil settlements, then they won't have the spare money to support Republican candidates. It does not matter if Democrats are popular now. It matters if voters are disgusted with Republicans in November.
