For clarity those who do not understand Spanish….Jamaica.,Translates to ha maica.From Jamaica obviously .For Mexicans and I suppose the rest in Central America,. It means a sweet tea made of certain hibiscus flowers.

Body surfing is cold enough in San Diego when the waves are good. It must be impossible in Oregon. I was offered a free scuba certification when I went on a Scripps Institute expedition to the Aleutian Islands way back when. I said no thanks, so I remained in the small boats on the surface where I actually did useful stuff. I pitied those poor divers in sub-freezing water. They both ended up with frostbite on their faces around their masks. I got my certificate later in a college course. Got PE credit, too!

When I was a kid, Boogie Boarding was a big thing. I grew up in Redondo Beach just south of LAX.

I'm a bit older: Boogie boards were not invented when I was a kid. Back then it was surf rafting, until you learned how to do without one, or got a surfboard. I got a spring suit (short sleeved thin wetsuit) and fins, as soon as I had a job and could get to the beach myself. The added buoyancy made body surfing a lot easier.
