Because there is a lot of resistance to recognizing that the whole “Cowboy” mythology is itself a grand curtain made of smoke (from coal campfires?).

Layered in lies, the state is a made to order environment for sheltering greed. If you want more proof, I present the statement from the article that certain protective legal contrivances were touted as “the best thing since sliced bread!” As all honest, salt of the earth folks know, sliced bread is more evil than the Trump vaccines, and real people own and operate a bread knife. Pre-slicing enriches only the manufacturers of bread slicing machines, to the detriment of the citizenry who are summarily deprived of something akin to a daily sacramental ritual - and dragged sleepily into a deeper zomboidical state.

Oh well.

Republican dominating, I think was wildly exaggerated. Perhaps pundits just looking at history and not current numbers being provided. I don’t think anyone ever thought that the Democrats would be up by 6 in the gerrymandering war at this time. Mainly because Texas didn’t gerrymander for the GOP to gain seats, instead gerrymandering in a way to make all incumbents of both parties safer. No one saw that coming. Democrats gerrymandering in Illinois, New Jersey and Oregon, plus a couple of minor states off set Republican gerrymandering in North Carolina and Ohio.

My take on the house today, out of the 189 newly drawn districts, there are 18 competitive, switchable districts. Currently held by 13 Democrats and 5 Republicans. That doesn’t donate a huge shift to the GOP. There still 246 more districts to be redrawn which includes the big states of California, New York and Florida. Without redistricting being completed, the only other indication for the house is the generic congressional ballot which the GOP leads today 44-42. Back in July it was the democrats in the lead 47-42. But this generic congressional ballot is nationwide, not district by district, so it is suspect.

Looking at all the numbers today, I’m still sticking with a 10-15 seat pickup for the Republicans. No red wave, but no red wave needed to regain control when a net gain of 5 seats accomplishes that.

The senate, I’m still sticking with the Democrats gaining Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Georgia and North Carolina are 50-50 one from each party. Other states to watch, Nevada, Arizona leans Democratic, Florida leans Republican. But no change in which party holds those seats. Of course, all of this is dynamic and as new numbers become available, this could all change.

As for 2010, the Republicans picked up their 63 seats in the 2010 midterms on districts drawn after the 2000 census. The Republicans did gerrymander the heck out of Texas, North Carolina and Pennsylvania after the 2010 census. But Democrats forget they did the same for Illinois, California and New York after the 2010 census. California has gone to an independent commission, so we'll see how that works out..

California has become the 29th state to complete their redistricting. In the gerrymandering wars, the democrats still retain their 6-seat advantage. 241 districts have been redrawn. 184 districts are remaining. There’re still are two big states left, New York and Florida. Several medium size states which include Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Missouri and Washington. The remaining are the smaller states which have less than 10 electoral votes. Florida and Michigan, home to 41 congressional districts between them are each entertaining several proposed maps. Georgia’s new map has already been drawn and is simply awaiting the governor’s signature.

Michigan and Virginia became the 30th and 31st states to complete their redistricting counting the 6 states with a single, lone representative. In the gerrymandering wars, the democrats have a 7-seat advantage. 265 districts have been redrawn. 170 districts are remaining to be redrawn. There’re still are two big states left, New York and Florida. Several medium states which include Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Georgia, Missouri and Washington. The remaining are the smaller states which have less than 10 electoral votes. Georgia’s new map has already been drawn and is awaiting the governor’s signature.

Out of the 265 newly drawn districts, there are 22 competitive, switchable districts. Currently held by 14 Democrats and 8 Republicans.

Note: while it’s a total surprise that the democrats are ahead in the gerrymandering wars by 7 seats at this point in the redistricting process. The republicans have many more states left where they hold a trifecta. Trifecta is when one party has the Governorship and controls both state legislative branches. Republican states left where the GOP holds a trifecta are Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Tennessee vs. the Democratic trifectas of Connecticut, Hawaii, New York, Rhode Island and Washington state. It is my opinion that the 7-seat democratic advantage will be reduced significantly if not done away with completely once all the redistricting is completed.

Georgia became the 32nd state to complete redistricting counting the 6 states with a single, lone representative. In the gerrymandering wars, the democrats have a 6-seat advantage. The Democrats advantage is down one due to Georgia gerrymandering, placing 2 Democratic incumbents against each other in the same district. 279 districts have been redrawn. 156 districts are remaining to be redrawn. There’re still are two big states left, New York and Florida. Several medium states which include Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Missouri and Washington. The remaining are the smaller states which have less than 10 electoral votes.

Connecticut State Supreme Courts will draw their redistricting map because a bipartisan redistricting commission in Connecticut failed to meet its deadlines to approve a map. Redistricting looks destined to be decided or drawn by the Wisconsin Supreme Court also where the Democratic governor has vetoed the map passed by the Republican legislature. But the deadline for Wisconsin’s state legislature and the governor to sign it into law isn’t until 15 Apr 2022.

Out of the 279 newly drawn districts, there are 23 competitive, switchable districts. Currently held by 15 Democrats and 8 Republicans.

The Ohio Supreme Court threw out the new redistricting map as being unconstitutional. Making the Ohio state legislature draw a new map. Now if each of the state Supreme Courts would throw out North Carolina, Illinois, Oregon, Nevada, New Jersey gerrymandering to favor one or the other party, we would be on to something very positive.

Now I’ll have to recalibrate on my totals. Below are the remaining states where their new maps have been challenged in court. There will probably much more recalibration needed when these lawsuits are decided. I’ve also included where a party gained or not due to redistricting.
Alabama – Neither party gained
Georgia – Neither party gained
Maryland – Neither party gained
Michigan -Neither party gained
Nevada – Democrats gained
New Jersey – Democrats gained
North Carolina – Republicans gained
Texas – Neither party gained – DOJ sued Texas, Both parties were happy with Texas’s new map.

Surprising to me are the two of the states with the grossest gerrymandering for partisan advantage, Illinois and Oregon aren’t in litigation. That’s hard to impossible for me to figure out why not.

I’ve always said, Gerrymandering was nothing more than congressmen choosing their voters instead of the voters choosing their congressmen.
