Yesterday, Virigina's newly minted Republican Governor signed an E.O. banning Critical Race Theory. (CRT). Critical Race Theory argues that the white supremacy of the past lives on in the laws and societal rules of the present - that prejudice is a matter of structural disadvantage that stretches across American society.
For the record, CRT is a advanced college Law Class. Eight year olds are not being taught CRT - no matter how bright you think your little darling is.
Systemic racism exists whether or not white children are told about it or not. It's not divisive to be told about things that are real. It's divisive for only certain students to experience those things while others get to put on their horse blinders and go about their day, never understanding why they get dirty looks when they ask to touch their classmate's hair. That's divisive.
CRT came to the forefront during the pandemic when BLM started protesting unjust police killings of black Americans. That is when a hardcore conservative journalist by the name of Christopher Rufo began noticing and started writing about anti-bias training springing up around the country. Rufo went on the Tucker Carlson Show to whine about anti-bias training and that's how the “cult indoctrination†of critical race theory got started.
