Has anybody talked to Doug? If it's just a matter of cash I think we can fix it.
If we can I'd like to keep it up and running a little longer so we can make a transition without having to shut down.
But we need Doug's input so we can work out the details. I emailed him, tweeted and left pvt msgs.

Put me on the list of those who would donate to keep this site up and running. I'm very comfortable here. As an old man, one's comfort is important.
It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

Drop me an email address, Pero, in case we manage to salvage something of this place, or friend me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/mark.kyle.58

I have created a Google Group that we can continue the conversation and the effort to capture as much as the ReaderRant as we can. https://groups.google.com/g/rantpack
A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.
Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

I still never heard back from our Honcho as to a donation portal. Sad to think I may try to log in tomorrow and find a giant 404 page.

My apologies. My work and more than a few health problems have kept me distracted. The server that RR sits on goes dark at midnight Monday. The old fee of $320 a month that it has cost for the last year is going up to $350.00, and I couldn't afford the old monthly rate, much less the new one. It's simple economics, and I could not afford to keep much of my web operations online. I have moved Capitol Hill Blue and Blue Ridge Muse to a smaller web hosting service that cannot, unfortunately, handle online bulletin boards. I looked at other web hosts, and they have strict regulations on BBs that I felt would not allow RR to operate in a reasonably good environment.
RR needs an upgrade in its operating software, which also costs money. I appreciate the offer of financial help, but I cannot ask anyone to assume the costs that I feel are needed to keep this thing going. Unless, someone has a better ID, I will put the site on "hold," make a dopy of all the files and databases, and hope that there is a way to bring it back down the line.

Doug We already have several members willing to donate monthly. You CAN ask us to help because several have expressed the willingness to help. DP donate portal($427 of $290 raised this month) So sorry to hear you're continuing to have health problems, Doug. We really want to help lessen the burden.

I'm overwhelmed. What a great bunch we have here.
Let me review finances to see if I can come up with this weekend to make the $320 payment that is due on Monday to keep the server going until we can find a less expensive place to move it without having to suspend it.
I'll have to see what I can do, but if I can, does that work with folks?
I'm sorry I underestimated the desire that exits here. I have let you down and it is more than I deserve.
Doug
