At the risk of repeating myself. The GOP claims, and its followers believe, that they are actually saving the United States from the Dems who are crazy and want to destroy America! That's the Republican drum that beats every day, every night, constantly and without letup. They are very good at lying like this and they convince voters and get votes. In the last election the Republicans in the Senate only need one more seat to own the Senate yet again and they did OK in the house as well. The Democrats, during that same time, floated "Defund the police" and wasted a lot of time fighting with one another.

Now Biden is trying to get 30 billion dollars to pay for our armoring the Ukraine. There were four Republicans and four Democrats against that one, so far. The Republicans were the truly crazed and the Democrats where the equally challenged liberal loons of the Democratic party.

It's 1984 for the GOP. They're the "Ministry of Truth" (which is not the truth) from the novel. Funny Russia is doing the very same thing in their "truths" about their invasion of Ukraine.

It must be a Rightwing thing.

By the way, has anyone else noticed that all the screeching from Prager, Goldberg, D'Souza and Ben Shapiro about how fascism is a left wing ideology which is the same as socialism-communism-Democrats has gone 100% quiet?

Suddenly it's as quiet as the surface of the Moon.

Those people are not bright enough to know that fascism is a rightwing political philosophy.

Oddly, to freedom-loving conservatives, there is really no difference between fascism and socialism.

Both, to them, represent a dictatorial regime with few rights and no freedom from the overburdening power of the state.


The people who wanted national unity and strong leadership weren't seeking a brutal dictatorship. They didn't want fascism or socialism. They just wanted to make their country great again.

I have neglected to mention that those that support the GOP do not get their news from any of the networks, CNN, Etc. They go for those with 'proper' commentators like FOX and a couple of others. These have commentators that, we are finding out, are at least partially responsible for the current state of the Republican party. This means that those supporting the rabid right don't actually get a lot of political news that is not fraught with lies and innuendo. Not only that but the Republicans also get a lot of attention on all the other sources as well. I firmly believe that this is because the Republicans are a LOT more entertaining than the Dems!

Its been said that Trump is a creature actually created by TV because people loved watching him - he was entertaining! Its said that American TV gave Trump no less than a billion dollars worth of free TV exposure. I think that them that run TV continue with that to some extent.

If nothing else the Dems have their work cut out for themselves and their low rating just might, at least in part, due to TV exposure that the Dems just don't get.

They have, however, announced that they are going to start their public hearings on June 9. I remain hopeful that they will be 'entertaining'. (Americans LOVE to be entertained!)

Republicans and independents won't be terribly entertained by them.

Democrats will eat it up.

The results will be that Democrats will vote for Democrats.

Never said "canceled"....but can you imagine a repeat of a SCOTUS election, you know, like the one in 2000? Can you imagine a repeat of Jan 6 only where they succeed in overturning the election, where states that did the right thing in 2020 are no longer willing OR ABLE to? Can you imagine permanent "partisan" election security where anyone who is not or "doesn't appear to be" Republican gets sufficiently harassed or threatened that they wind up not voting year after year?

The idea isn't to cancel anything and never was. Viktor Orban will continue to hold "elections"...just so long as Orban knows he will win every single time and when he dies, he dies knowing his Fidesz Party wins every election from now to eternity.

You don't see ANY possibility of that at all?
Some experts refer to it as "MANAGED democracy" but Orban calls it "illiberal democracy" but in the end what it is, is a hollowed out shell that goes through the motions but with a permanently predetermined outcome every single time.

The main difference between fascism and socialism is their structure. Fascism is vertical hierarchy, or top-down. Socialism is horizontal and on the same plane with no hierarchy.

Try to explain this concept to conservatives, and their eyes glaze over and roll into their heads.

It's simple really. Fascism believes that the people at the top are better than the people at the bottom: White Christians are better than jews, gays, or bown skinned minorities.

Socialism is that everyone is equal and deserve/get the same as everyone else.

US Capitalism seems to share a lot of fascist principles.
