probably half or more of each major party views the other party as this nation’s number one enemy by now.

It kind of cock blocks every effort at progress. **Yes, it's all the Republicans fault**

Politics has become the new racism. An outlet for anger and hate against a group that really isn't so different from you. You might live next door to one for years and never know you should hate them.

You know why God made Republicans smell bad...?

So blind Democrats could hate them too!

There's a reason why Independents Are Still the Largest Political Group in the U.S.. Gallup

Neither party has enough core members to win elections without independents. So every administration is judged by folks who are uninterested in any of the partisan squabbling over guns, abortion, or Trump.

As far as anybody can tell, right now, the Democrats are going to seriously lose in the next election. They are also working really hard to make sure that happens. Currently they have refused to give Justice copies of their papers. Nobody is quite sure why. I suspect they fear losing Republicans to query after they get indited. Considering their ongoing behavior I also suspect that they just don't care if they lose.

I know, that can't be - really? The Republicans have proven, over time, just how well a long view, goals, clever messaging, and unity helps them. One would think that would be some kind of warning and even lesson. Nope - just not gonna happen! Instead we get to watch the Republicans do an absolutely great job dismembering the United States of America whilst praising the Constitution that they ignore.

All that being said, all the talk about how the Dems are going to fix the problems is REALLY unlikely.

If I were younger I would be seriously considering pulling out whilst the pulling is good. I know several folks who have done that one already. Seems that Portugal is a good bet. Its a really nice place, good weather and they were smart enough to ignore the American war on drugs (America is big on wars) and simply solve their own drug problem.

I REALLY hope I am wrong!

Actually jgw, considering Biden overall job approval is at 38.4% approval/ 56.9% disapproval, the Democrats aren’t in bad shape with all things considered.

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/president-biden-job-approval-7320.html

The average House seat loss when a president’s approval is around 40% is 48.5 seats lost, 6 senate seats lost. That’s the historical average. If the election were held today, going by today’s numbers the Democrats would lose 18-20 house seats and gain a senate seat. That’s trouncing the historical averages big time, although the Democrats would still lose control of the house.

This is where the results of 2020 loom large with Biden, although winning by 7 million plus vote, the democrats lost 13 house seats. Biden should have had a large coat tail in winning by that many votes, the Democrats should have gained 20 plus seats, not lost 13. This is where slogans like Defund the Police came into play. Folks wanted Trump gone, wanted him gone bad. But they also wanted their police to stay, most Americans like their local police, trust them. This is where the Democrats message got all screwed. A lot of folks heard Defund the Police, then turned a deaf ear to anything and everything else the Democrats were saying. That history now.

Which returns us to today. I think the Democrats lose track of what those outside the realms of the Democratic Party’s circle are thinking, wanting, wishing for. That they pay way too much attention to their base and not the unwashed masses out there who don’t belong nor affiliate with either party. A lot of what Biden, Pelosi, Schumer are saying resonates big within the Democratic Party, but doesn’t play well to those non-affiliated swing voters. I think 2020 results down ballot proved this.

Still losing only 18-20 seats in the house while gaining a senate seat would qualify as a huge victory for the Democrats this year. Especially with a president with a 38.4% overall job approval. The Democrats are lucky as they’re not the only one who lost touch with the unwashed middle, so too have the Republicans. Even perhaps more so than the democrats which so far has been a limiting factor in the Democrats scant loses this midterm.

It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

One again Greger you hit the nail on the head. Independents according to Gallup now make up 43% of the electorate with Democrats and Republicans coming in at 27% each. It’s interesting that independents made up 30% of the electorate in 2006 and has been climbing ever since. Just about the time we entered this modern political era of polarization, the great divide and the super, mega, ultra-high partisanship. Yes, they’re tied, independents tired of all the partisan squabbles be it on whatever issue. They don’t care, they just want to see their lives improving slowly over time, their pocketbook so to speak. All these issues so important to the two major parties mean little to nothing to them. Making ends meet and seeing their lives improve over time does.

It will be useless waste of time and money. Impeach for what? Being a Democrat? The incompetent Republicans and their asinine investigations: Benghazi (nine of them. NINE! All for naught) Durham investigation ( Nothing!)

Just wait and watch, these things will come to pass. Republicans believe they been wronged for purely partisan reasons. You’ll feel the same way they do if the House impeaches Biden and McCarthy denies certain chosen democrats a place on committees. You’ll be up in arms when this happens just like the GOP is today. These things escalate big time.

Reality doesn't seem to be a friend to Republicans. Trump was impeached the first time for quid pro quo. Trump was impeached the second time for fomenting an insurrection. Gym Jordon is not on the J6 committee because he is one of the coup planners. Common sense dictates that a Fox ought not guard the hen house. The analogy used does not suggest in any way that Gym is the least bit clever - he’s not by any stretch of the imagination because he’s actually a dumbfck.

The only thing the GOP excels at is being professional victims. They're completely divorced from reality which simply validates that conservatism is a mental illness.

If anyone has an axe to grind for impeachment - it's the Dems for the GOP impeaching Bill Clinton for receiving oral sex while sitting at the Resolute desk. Frankly, I think the old ReTHUGlicons at the time were just jelly.

One interesting effect of this Supreme Court, is that stare decisis is dead. Just like Senate Rules, once you violate them the opposition is not going to reinstate them. The first week there is a liberal Supreme Court majority, out go all the recent Supreme Court rulings. The heavy price the Republican Party has paid in terms of destroying their reputation just to get a conservative Supreme Court majority will be for naught. In the long run, conservatives always lose, because time only runs in a forward direction for human perception. "Things Change" is the only thing that doesn't change. Reality has a very strong progressive bias, because everybody dies eventually.

The first thing that should be reversed is Scalia’s 2008 decision that individuals have rights to guns. They do not, but militias do. Next is Citizens United.
