Definition of patriotism
: love for or devotion to one's country
Although poles apart ideologically, they are both unashamed of their patriotism.

The above definition is something to think about. One’s political ideology or party affiliation doesn’t make one a patriot. That makes one a partisan. You can have two people on completely opposite sides of an issue, but both are where they are on that issue because they think they’re right and both love and are devoted to their country.

Who is and who isn’t patriotic boils down to the eye of the beholder. Again, I’m the weird one here as I don’t classify people as being patriotic or unpatriotic. Especially for political purposes. Each side always thinks they’re the patriotic ones while each thinks the other side is unpatriotic. I go so far as to say patriotism is a word used by both sides for pure political propaganda purposes. And no, I don’t think and never have thought myself as being patriotic. To go along with that, I’ve never thought of anyone else being unpatriotic either.

It's high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first instead of their political party. For way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.
