There's a certain kind of poetic justice knowing this raid took place on the 08/08 - the anniversary of Richard M. Nixon resigning in disgrace.

Here's another funny story:

Generals not Loyal Like Hitler's

Trump complained to his then Chief of Staff General John Kelly that his generals were not loyal to him like Hitler's generals. Then Kelly told him Hitler's generals tried to kill him three times.

Trump was in NYC when Mara-Largo was raided. Why was he in NYC? Last week Don Jr testified to Leticia James investigation. I'll bet it's Big Boy's turn this week to testify.

…if so, to raid his place the night before a big under-oath testimony has got to rattle the fella. smile

This is serious as a heart attack. In order to get a search warrant, the FBI had to demonstrate probable cause 1) that a crime has occurred, and 2) that evidence is likely to be found at the location, and 3) that use of a search warrant is necessary to secure that evidence.

Think about that, two branches of government were involved. The former president is so untrustworthy that no other method would have secured the evidence. The Attorney General had to be convinced that it was necessary, a judge had to authorize it.

Wow. That's bad.

Mara-Largo is closed for the summer. The raid took place when Trump, the USSS and Trump’s security detail were not there. All indications are this raid is related to the National Archives haul that Trump took from the White House. Apparently, not everything was returned.

"There was communication between the FBI and US Secret Service before the search warrant was executed Monday, a person familiar with the matter said, allowing for the FBI to access the estate without any complications. There is only a small Secret Service footprint at Mar-a-Lago when Trump is not there." FBI executes search warrant at Trump's Mar-a-Lago in document investigation (CNN)

"In early June, a handful of investigators made a rare visit to the property seeking more information about potentially classified material from Trump's time in the White House that had been taken to Florida. The four investigators, including Jay Bratt, the chief of the counterintelligence and export control section at the Justice Department, sat down with two of Trump's attorneys, Bobb and Evan Corcoran, according to a source present for the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Trump stopped by and greeted the investigators near a dining room. After he left, without answering any questions, the investigators asked the attorneys if they could see where Trump was storing the documents. The attorneys took the investigators to the basement room where the boxes of materials were being stored, and the investigators looked around the room before eventually leaving, according to the source."

What this means is, no one trusts Trump or the folks at Mar-a-Lago to be telling the truth about the documents.

Donald Trump has been really busy the past 18 months:
  • Inciting and planning the J6 riots
  • Fake-elector schemes
  • Witness Tampering
  • Espionage

There's never been a POTUS doing so much criming!

Trump's main defense for taking all those classified documents is probably that he declassified them all while he was President. The problem with that is a special law does not permit the President to declassify nuclear-related documents. That's up to the Energy Department. His "the best people" lawyers probably were not aware of that. They are all about politics and PR, not "sciency stuff".
