How many criminal investigations are we up to: 2016 Russian collusion (of which this may be a part); obstruction of ... well, everything; vote fraud; seditious conspiracy...
Active prosecution of the Trump Organization is still underway.
Weisselberg is pleading guilty. There are active grand juries in Georgia, D.C. New York (?) and Florida. And the Jan 6 committee is about to reopen hearings in September. Something is bound to land.
And even with all of this, Mr. Trump will walk away scot free. Everything that I have seen this far, reinforces my thoughts that he is above the law.
That guarantees a return and the collapse of our democratic form of government.
We already watched this play out eighty years ago.
In fact, even if he IS convicted and incarcerated, if it's a light sentence of a year or so, or something mild like "house arrest", it guarantees he will monetize his martyrdom and grow a network of insurgents several orders of magnitude larger than the current collection.
Any sentencing must include provisions, which are indeed CONSTITUTIONAL as noted above, that he is forbidden from holding ANY elected office for the rest of his life, and that's if he is ever allowed to walk free again.
