Simply put...I could never have done any of the things Trump has done. I've never been within ten miles of a classified document, and I've never been POTUS, nor rich, nor a teevee star, nor any of the other things that made it possible for Trump to be Trump.
And to the best of my knowledge "getting America used to" having politicians" locked up isn't a part of their job description.
But Once Americans are used to it Republicans will have no qualms locking up Democrats when power changes hands again...
A little thing like the rule of law has a lot to do with why there is pressure to lock him up.
Suggesting that tit for tat is a substitute for rule of law misses the point.
Suggesting it's okay if we ignore the difference is national suicide.
Oh, one more thing, throwing crooked leaders in prison is part of every citizen's job description, in ANY free democratic country. We've thrown mayors, governors, even congressmen and senators in prison.
There's no magical barrier that separates a president from those mere mortal underlings.
Ask yourself what would have happened if Spiro Agnew had "doubled down" and refused to budge.
Yup, Congress was prepared to throw his dumb ass in prison, for a lot less than Trump's doings.
