The point is, because Hillary was never charged, how can Trump be charged? Turley is correct. That is why Merrick Garland has to get Trump on Obstruction of Justice charges. What makes you think Mr. Trump will be charged with anything anyway? I'm not holding my breath that's for sure! Hilliary's situation is different given that classified docs were electronic and not the original hardcopies and sent to the email account on her server in error while serving in her government role. Hillary also used a government account assigned her as well. Trump took the hardcopy of the documents. Trump held the documents and classified information as a private citizen. Even ex-presidents are not above the law as the SCOTUS has ruled AND the SCOTUS has ruled that there is only one president at-a-time, and Executive Privilege goes with the sitting president - not a former.

Wise choice on the breath-holding Kaine...Despite his differences from Madame Clinton, he won't be charged before the midterms. And probably not after either. Merrick Garland hasn't "got to get him" on any chargers, obstruction or otherwise. Maybe three or four years will pass before an 80-year-old Trump is quietly arrested at his summer home in New Jersey...

Au contraire Monsieur Greger. Just the fact that if YOU had done anything that Trump has done - you'd be in jail right now. The DoJ has to get the American public used to the idea that a former president will die in prison.

Simply put...I could never have done any of the things Trump has done. I've never been within ten miles of a classified document, and I've never been POTUS, nor rich, nor a teevee star, nor any of the other things that made it possible for Trump to be Trump.
And to the best of my knowledge "getting America used to" having politicians" locked up isn't a part of their job description.
But Once Americans are used to it Republicans will have no qualms locking up Democrats when power changes hands again...

But Once Americans are used to it Republicans will have no qualms locking up Democrats when power changes hands again... A little thing like the rule of law has a lot to do with why there is pressure to lock him up. Suggesting that tit for tat is a substitute for rule of law misses the point. Suggesting it's okay if we ignore the difference is national suicide. Oh, one more thing, throwing crooked leaders in prison is part of every citizen's job description, in ANY free democratic country. We've thrown mayors, governors, even congressmen and senators in prison. There's no magical barrier that separates a president from those mere mortal underlings. Ask yourself what would have happened if Spiro Agnew had "doubled down" and refused to budge. Yup, Congress was prepared to throw his dumb ass in prison, for a lot less than Trump's doings.

throwing crooked leaders in prison is part of every citizen's job description, I said it wasn't the DOJs job to prepare the American public for the arrest of crooked leaders. Unless DOJ is now part of the propaganda machine? I also don't consider it my job to throw "crooked" leaders into prison. In fact, I'm betting that if I pulled a gun on Trump and tried to frog-march him down to the local precinct, it's pretty unlikely I'd survive. And they don't come any crookeder than him. It's not the internet's job to throw crooked leaders in jail either...if it was they'd all be in jail. We have law enforcement officers from the AG down who I trust to take care of that stuff without any input from me. I'm not a newspaperman. It's not my job to afflict the comfortable nor comfort the afflicted. I'm neither judge nor jury and certainly not an officer of the law. Call it tit for tat if you want, but the reality is that Republicans are pissed and as soon as the House changes hands the investigations will be going a different direction. Of course they will come to nothing because Hunter Biden is innocent, and nothing was covered up...

I think in Trump's case - as with EVERYTHING Trump - the DoJ needs to prepare the country for Trump being indicted.
This has never happened before. Then again, we've never had a criminal POTUS like Trump either - but we were aware of Trump's criminality before he was elected.
