I suspect Trump had "all his best people" invade the Capital on January 6th, and most of them have been arrested, indicted, or plead already. How many more are going to be willing to suffer the same fate, for a hopeless cause? And where exactly would they go for a repeat performance? FBI headquarters? I think a large percentage would end up dead, if they tried to invade FBI headquarters. I think one a-hole tried so far and yep: Dead.

It might be an opportunity for the FBI to make a list of people willing to commit domestic terrorism, to be rounded up for "Insurrection Trials, Round 2". But I suspect Trump's "people are talking" contain a thin layer of actual domestic terrorists, mixed in with a lot of windbags and assorted nuts. Some large percentage of Republicans are saying they would vote for him even if he was convicted, but very few would face armed government agents. His minions are going to start facing more and more consequences in the coming weeks. Who wants to volunteer for that?

What is the difference between indicted and convicted?

The main difference between a conviction and an indictment is that an indictment only establishes whether or not there is enough evidence to charge a suspect with a crime. If so, the suspect must then actually be tried and convicted by a judge or jury in a criminal trial.
Okay, I can see that he could be indicted, but conviction? Out of the question. As I've said before, I'm not holding my breath.

Trump's life-long criminality will culminate in Trump dying in prison - for one of the many investigations that he's under right now.

This is a pattern, now. It's how fascists operate. Lindsey Graham parroted Trump, and Trump saw he "got away with it", so figured he could, too.

It's a signal to his thugs - "stand by". There will be blood, but more important is to keep/take control of legislatures. It's no longer red/blue or Dem/Rep, it is democracy vs autocracy, pure and simple. To the extent we don't, there will be more blood. Not a civil war, mind you, but civil unrest.

A well reasoned argument is like a diamond: impervious to corruption and crystal clear - and infinitely rarer.

Here, as elsewhere, people are outraged at what feels like a rigged game -- an economy that won't respond, a democracy that won't listen, and a financial sector that holds all the cards. - Robert Reich

I'd be willing to bet against that statement. I think it's more likely he dies before he goes to prison.

An indictment is undoubtedly forthcoming. A conviction is likely. We'll see if it carries any jail time.

Whoever gets there first gets the gold ring. If Trump is indicted and convicted, he's finished.

He'll run again if he's tried, and acquitted. And he'll be third behind Desantis and Pence. He's a gold-plated turd that's lost its luster.

People died or were maimed in the January 6th riot. Some were cops! I bet he gets sentenced just because of that. What would not surprise me though, would be a sentence in absentia after he flees the reach of US extradition. He certainly has the means, and I doubt any judge would jail him as a flight risk. Trump as a martyr-in-exile web-casting to a country run by vindictive Democrats, just seems way more "Trumpy" then Trump sitting in a federal prison completely cut off from the world. How could he milk his rubes for millions, from a prison cell? The internet makes that all possible from anywhere else in the world.
