Talk of ‘Civil War’ ignited online after MAL search by the FBI, is flaring online

Quote
Soon after the F.B.I. searched Donald J. Trump’s home in Florida for classified documents, online researchers zeroed in on a worrying trend.

Posts on Twitter that mentioned “civil war” had soared nearly 3,000 percent in just a few hours as Mr. Trump’s supporters blasted the action as a provocation. Similar spikes followed, including on Facebook, Reddit, Telegram, Parler, Gab and Truth Social, Mr. Trump’s social media platform. Mentions of the phrase more than doubled on radio programs and podcasts, as measured by Critical Mention, a media-tracking firm.

Posts mentioning “civil war” jumped again a few weeks later, after President Biden branded Mr. Trump and “MAGA Republicans” a threat to “the very foundations of our republic” in a speech on democracy in Philadelphia.

Heard the FBI is searching other Trump properties now. I wonder if the government could seize the properties for the crimes committed there. That would be pretty damned funny! And maybe get congress to do something about asset forfeiture.

You know he's gonna skate, right...?

I'd check that one in Scotland, where many government flights rerouted for re-fueling and a night of debauchery at a Trump resort!

No telling how many boxes of Trump's "belongings" were offloaded and stashed in some secret private vault.

Yep. On this and everything else he has done. He is still above the law, and I don't expect that to ever change (except for those charges with fines that he can pay-off). To me, paying fines is not being accountable. Jail time is!

Trump won't skate, he'll be the first indicted and imprisoned POTUS in the history of the United States. That's nothing to brag about and it's a sad statement on the Republican party because they had an opportunity to force him out of office for his Ukrainian quid pro quo in 2018.

I don't think that Trump owns the one in Scotland anymore - I think they kicked him out.

There's a pretty good article over at The Atlantic about Merrick Garland and why he's struggling with the decision to indict. Ultimately, the author believes, an indictment is coming.

There's no question in anyone's mind about his guilt. So it's not so much that he's "above the law" as it is that the "law" simply doesn't know how to handle him.

For a Democrat AG to indict a former Republican President is just an awkward situation.

No matter how heinous the crimes.

The indictment needs to come down from a Republican, or it will be politically invalid. and will be answered with a pardon at the first opportunity and the weaponizing of the Department of Justice for partisan political purposes.

The fate of one idiot who grossly abused the power vested in him by American voters is not worth the damage it will do to the Justice system to prosecute him.

Minimizing that damage is key to preventing this sort of thing from happening again.

I don't care if he skates...he didn't get away with anything.

And I don't demand accountability from the rich, famous, and powerful or I'd walk around sad all day for nothing, y'know? I didn't vote for him. Not my monkey. The clowns I vote for wear blue noses.

To me, Trump is roadkill on the political highway. He is writhing about in agony, maybe he'll be able to walk away but his injuries will kill him. He is in the rearview mirror as far as I'm concerned. And you know what Enzo Ferrari said about rear-view mirrors...

Isn't the Justice Department supposed to be non-partisan?

From David Rosner at the "Soros" Institute for Snarky Politics:

·
BREAKING: In a truly STUNNING act of corruption, Justice Clarence Thomas unilaterally grants Lindsey Graham's request to temporarily shield him from testifying in the probe into the illegal efforts to steal the 2020 election in Georgia.

I don't know why, but I couldn't believe it when I first heard this.

It makes me wonder why was it the Honorable Justice Thomas that made this decision? Of all the justices, it was the one that will not recuse himself from anything 2020 election related due to his wives beliefs.

I guess I have been too naïve to think that the Supreme court was above partisanship. BLAH!!
