Interesting court case coming up on January 30th: A democratic state senator in Florida has filed a lawsuit against DeSantis et al, regarding many aspects of the scheme to use state funds to import legal asylum seekers from Texas into Florida (for 10 minutes) so he could have them deported to Martha's Vineyard. DeSantis tried to have the lawsuit dismissed, but a judge said no and now it goes to court. There are several crimes* involved, including things that violate the Florida state constitution, so this is not something DeSantis can ignore or use his office to wriggle out of the consequences.
This could have a far reaching effect on the many lawsuits filed about this scheme, as well as suits against Governor Abbott of Texas. Should be interesting, especially if the court finds the Governor personally liable to pay for everything.
